Here's how you record interviews.......

Hey Warriors,

I just thought of sharing this with all of you today. I have been conducting and recording interviews for a long time now.

Here's what I use:

Make the most of Skype - free internet calls and great value calls For calling the person
MP3 Skype Recorder | Free Skype call recorder MP3 Skype Recorder for recording the call

Here's the process:

I call the person up and start talking and at the same time I have MP3 Skype Recorder running in the background.

It also saves the audio file in MP3 format so you don't have to go around looking for converters.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the tip. I knew about Skype but I've never used it to record. I've been using FreeConferenceCall.com, but it's good to have another option.

    Thanks Mohammad

Wish I knew this a while back...plenty of transcription fingers cramps I've experienced in the past.

You may want to do a quick test run to make sure there is no background noise being recorded when using Skype. The few times that my clients have used it there was an annoying noise. It could have just been on their end, but the clearer the audio the less chance you have of being charged extra to transcribe it. It has to be really bad for me to charge extra, but some transcriptionists do not have a problem labeling it "bad audio."

    Mohammad,

Just wondering if the the Skype recorder records in two channels or does it combine you and the interviewee into one?

I read somewhere that there was a way to record Skype calls and have both speakers recorded on different channels - so that you could equlize the volume levels after that call and clean up a noisy channel.

Anyone got any ideas what the software that did that was? (I make notes of stuff like that - I'll have a sift through and see if i can find it).

I try to manage it with various recorders available online & at a plenty of features available with them.

Try composing an interview session, & upload to the site server & which keeps an account of your composed message for as long as possible in the case where you are a premium user in the site.

This feature also helps us to provide backup of our audio messages later on when they are needed to work upon activities like transcribing & transcription from one format to another

I use Skype, MP3 Recorder and then I clean/edit the recording with Audacity which is a great freeware audio editing tool.
