Hi guys,

What video file format is accepted by all popular video sharing sites?
Can I have same file format for all those sites?

Most video sharing sites accept just about every format now - .mov, .avi, .flv, .m4v etc.

There are two things to think about. YouTube now accepts HD quality files - and automatically detects they are HD because of the aspect ratio of the video - but most HD files are over 100 mb.

So if you are using say TubeMogul to upload to multiple sites you'll find that the majority of other video sites won't take videos over 100 Mb. So if you have the capability to make HD files AND you are using TubeMogul to syundicate your files you may have to upload twice.

    HTH.

  • .FLV as its good quality, widely compatible and bandwidth friendly.

I've been using .FLV for my movies. Most sites I've been on take it without any issues. I'm generally only rendering it scaled down at 960x540 from an HD composition to make the file sizes more manageable, downloading easier for others, and the concept of me wanting to save the "true hd" footage for Blueray in the future.
