Article Marketing -v- Video Marketing

Do you agree that since the introduction of video marketing that punters prefer to watch a video to gather information rather than reading pages of pdf text?

Also, from a marketing point of view apparently videos get indexed quicker than ezine articles. Does anyone have experience of this factor?

Personally I don't mind either, maybe because I enjoy reading, but if I can get the gist of a program in a shorter format and not have to wade through the 'waffle' you find in some ebooks I think I would opt out and watch a video version.

Well I personally prefer videos over pdf...

I bought several WSO's and the ones I got the most out of were all videos...

They're straight to the point and once you're done, you know everything you have to know...

Video Marketing is great and people love it. If we are comparing video marketing to article marketing though I would choose article marketing. It's much harder to rank a video in a competitive term then an article and I find I get a better click through rate in general from articles I post with a url.

With YouTube been one of the top search engines now with millions of views a second (highly exaggerated) you can see why videos do get indexed quicker

    ...or do both!

With software that is out there now, it's pretty easy to convert articles into videos...

Or, do it by hand. Takes a few minutes to copy/paste into some powerpoint slides. Then you record.

Add some music and bam, done. I can do all that in about 20 minutes.

Then you can strip the audio out and do podcasting.

And then you can take your articles, bundle them and give them away to people (who can then give them away to other people). To make it more powerful, slap a few links in there and upload it to places like butterfly marketing (so people can put their own affiliate links in there)

You benefit by getting a link back to your site.

All kinds of ways to use articles, video and audio all interchangeably.

I get a better conversion rate with articles but videos seem to rank higher, quicker and easier. So if you want the best of both worlds do both.

And like Rob said above, turn those articles into videos and blast them out everywhere.

I think with video marketing your going to reach a larger audience.

With the services of a site like tubemogul, you can blast your video out to a dozen sites at one time - youtube, metacafe, dailymotion, break, yahoo video,,,,,,,,. That means that you can tap into a massive amount of the market with little effort.

I agree that doing both will be better because you will get more links and videos are ranking higher and faster on the search engines

Personally I prefer writing - however in my main market it's video. Video absolutely rocks. So I had to learn to do passably competent videos.

But it's different for different markets. As with all things the answer lies in testing to see which medium is preferred best by your customers. If you have a list, email them and ask them: do you prefer video or written medium?

Always remember: you are not your customer.

I agree with the videos get ranked quicker with the right keywords and article marketing gives consistency but at a slower rate at first. However, the main thing is to have a systemic consistent weekly formula you follow for either/both methods. This will always produce results over the long haul.

    Good luck.
