What do you think would be the biggest mistake for someone just gettting into internet marketing?

Hi,

For me the biggest mistake I still keep doing to this day is second guessing myself. For example I will lay out a plan in which I will action, I will begin taking action only to find that after a few days i start getting thoughts like "Is this really going to work", "am i doing the right thing" etc....

While it doesn't make sense to keep doing what doesn't work, my mistake is that I dont actually give it enough time to see results.

Another mistake I make which is kinda like the one mentioned before is that I do something, and the following day check my analytics account and get disheartened that it didn't stacks of people.

I guess the pain with free traffic is that it does take time for it to work, and it has to be done consistently

  My biggest mistake or maybe I should say valuable lesson was to get into Google AdWords without any idea of what I was doing. I set up a campaign and by morning make about $42 after spending over $1,000.
  
  It's wise to learn the ropes with paid methods before rolling things out...

  Chasing every shiny thing that comes along.
  
  Pick a niche, pick an info resource that resonates with you and just follow through the steps.
  
  Also, don't be too hard on yourself. It does take time to get things happening but it's a bit of a snowball once it starts to take off.

Chasing too many different things - spending too much time learning & no time doing

Doubting yourself - even very experienced marketers still do this

Not focusing - (this ones huge) focus on 1 thing only when you're starting out

Trying to invent their own way of doing things - start out by doing exactly what you learn to do 1st

There's several other 'mistakes' that you could make ...it really depends on the person

Taking too long to start making mistakes and learning from them.

Spending too much time reading after they understand a concept.

Trying to please everyone, instead of just trying to please someone.

Someone's biggest mistake in the internet marketing that I have ever imagined is... ehh... I do not know, I have never thought about it. Maybe when they are getting too obsessed with it and forget that actually there are real life out there.

I know, it is not making any sense at all. I will just keep reading this thread and let people tell me.

  Some of the most common mistakes are not managing time properly. This is demonstrated mostly by bouncing around from product to product.
  
  If you can just focus on one solid product or technique that you like and scale it up, you will do great.

For me is the idea that it will never work.... i mean... i even made some ebooks but never published them ...because i was afraid that wont be working.... and all time i finish the designs and stuff but then i go get some beer and say f**k it... it wont work..lets go to next thing... i do this every time and cant stop it ...and even lose amounts of money and time for nothing.... the thing is that im addicted in web design and graphics so i cant concentrate more on IM, and to design for others ...still wont work since are too many freelancers already... so im stuck anyway.... i even closed 2 bars because of this design addicted thing... now i will give it another chance... im building another ebook now from scratch and i will try to finish it this week and post it as a WSO then i will see...

Anyway i hope im the only one with this problem ...wish you all a lot of success

Not taking action

&

Not keeping focused

Beginners need to understand 2 things:

1 - Experience is the best teacher. You can buy many amazing guides, but none of them will help you if you don't learn some lessons by yourself.

2 - There is a learning curve for everything and jumping from one system to another every single day is not the way to go. Keep focused or give up of making a living online and go look for a good job.

Taking action adn keeping focused and the golden rules of internet marketing.

Not taking risks and fear of failure.

Don't be afraid to try something out, you may fail, but you'll learn much more from your failures than just about anything else.

not taking action
not sticking to a single plan
not building my list
losing focus on my goals by jumping from one product to another

  Mine would be:
  
  Not spending money on a good domain and hosting company.
  
  Expecting to instantly make $200 a day without being willing to spend any money on marketing.
  
  Spending money in the wrong areas. (then again that comes with experience)
  
  Working with an unprofitable niche
  
  Not taking action
  
  Trying too many ideas at once.
  
  Wasting too much time on a concept which others say works, and letting the months go by 'without' trying it.
