Wordpress membership Site Users - Help ME!

Hey there fellas.

I have been looking into several membership solutions and found 2 that I am interested in.

One is called wishlist and the other is relatively new, called "magic members"...

I have looked into wp-member but the reviews were disappointing.

I want to have the site look as professional as possible with the best integration so I don't have to go back and rework everything.

If you have a membership site then you would be doing a fellow warrior an incredible favor

Thanks, I am waiting on your opinions!

I bought unlimited licensing for Wish List. Well worth the money. The plugin is full featured and incredible.

Before buying membership plugin, ask vendors:

    1. Do they offer Gradual Content Delivery (dripping content) functionality?
    2. Do they offer secure digital downloads delivery with link sharing protection?
    3. Do they offer ability to sell digital download materials (ebooks, movies, MP3, etc) individually and in groups?
    4. Do they offer ability to track members who steal your content? (This will happen if your site grows and having ability to detect thiefs and terminate them ASAP is important)
    5. Do they offer support for Google First Click Free standard? This standard was introduced by Google specifically to help premium membership site owners to rank membership sites higher.
    6. Does source code if their plugins is encrypted or opened? If it's encrypted - expect issues with hosting services and inability to modify source code yourself.
    7. Do they offer ability to automatically substitute premium digital downloadables with "promotional" versions of such materials?
This is a great feature to have free visitors to download and see "teaser" version of your materials + let google see more rich media materials on your site as well.
Most membership softwares just shows "404" errors or "access denied" errors. Both visitors and Google would hate that functionality.
    8. Do they offer free support forum where issues are openly discussed and solved?
    9. Do they offer free trial of their softwares, which you can download without opt-in?
    10. Does their software allow you to launch membership site in a few minutes or does it require you to spend month learning their "technology"?
MemberWingX is "yes" answer on all of them.
Look around for offerings and I'll let you be the judge

    Hey xplosivmon,

Do check out http://DigitalAccessPass.com (DAP) .

Regardless of what solution you end up going with, considering DAP would be totally worth your time.

Full Disclosure: I'm the founder/co-developer of DAP :-)

    Hi,

I have worked with both WishList and MemberWing and both are very full featured.

However, and something to consider, MemberWing is a lot easier to work with from a users standpoint and support is excellent (Gleb is the developer and posted above).

Be sure to compare features, price, etc. and it wouldn't hurt to email support and see what kind of response you get (how quick, how helpful).

    Thanks,

    John

MemberWing 4.x with ClickBank - yes.
MemberWing-x 5.x with ClickBank - in 2 weeks from now
1SC told me they don't support third party integrations for recurring payments, so unless they'll change their mind....

If I could hijack this thread a bit but....

I am interested in developing a blog to which I will post great content specific to my field of expertise. In the short / medium term, I plan to have just the content and once traffic is decent, I will monetize with paid ads.

Long term step will be to add web tools to the site that only paid members would have access to.

And finally, I would ad a Forum to the site that would have similar functionality to the WF forum.

So, my question to you guys would be, what would be my best option that I could start with but would have the capacity to be upgraded in the manner described above?

    Thanks!

      1. Build site with Wordpress, add content, optimize.

      2. Add MemberWing-X free edition that will allow you right off the bat to sell access to premium content by subscription in general or sell access to individual articles one by one. Plus it will allow you to integrate your blog with autoresponders and deliver messages to your subscribers professionally. There are limits in free MemberWing-X but it will help you to stat making money without upfront investment. If you'll need more features - you may upgrade later. Enable First Click Free feature to have your website better indexed and ranked by Google. But read first what it does.

      3. Keep forum separate from all. Make it subdomain, like forum.yoursite.com. Don't use wordpress plugins for forum unless you plan to make forum "casual" part of it. vBulleltin is the world's best forum software and it one-time fee. WF uses it.

Wow - thanks a bunch for that Gleb! Could you point me to a website or two that you know of which are set up like this? Thanks again!

I love that list Gleb, if people take the time to investigate each point, they'll come to realise that whilst popular, the "big name" product isn't the holy grail people think and is rather overpriced for the features it offers (although it does have a very good affiliate scheme it seems). We're also investigating claims from one of our clients that unlike us, they seriously impact page load time (possibly due to encrypting the source?).

As for Magic Members, they don't like me mentioning it, but their current version (I'm told they are working on a new one, but I don't believe it's released yet) is based on Your Members v1.5 and you can get Your Members v1.8 (and all the new features it includes) for half the price of Magic Members. Link to it in my sig.

But take some time to check out the level of support each company offers, we're picking up loads of customers from some of the "big name" products as people just couldn't find the level of support they needed any more (it's also why I won't bash Gleb and Ravi, as like us, they DO take their support seriously).

Glenn, does Your Members allow autoresponders that are not part of the plugin? Can I integrate with Aweber?

Yes MemberWing-X integrates with AWeber and Mailchimp already. More to be added (I considering adding iContact and ConstantContact at this point).

I actually used Your Members plugin and it was a really headache. They don't even have a support system, that's why it's cheap. If you check their support forum, you can find lots of unanswered questions.
I recommend personally Wishlist Member or Magic Members plugin.

          Hi Mr Cinkir*,

I'm glad you're still around, as you've stopped responding to both our emails and those of the people you sold unlicensed copies of Your Members too (amazingly you left it authorizing them against our server, using your details), I now have another way I can encourage them to contact you for the refunds you promised you'd give people in your early emails to us.

I'm not sure what you mean by "we don't even have a support system" as you then mention our forums (but leave out the support contact section in the product and well as the email support and ticket system our dev customers get access to) and yes, of course there are unanswered threads on our forums, occasionally we feel is more appropriate to deal with certain issues by email and not every customer goes back to say thank you afterwards (although, trust me, they DO go back and post if they are ignored).

If I was anything less than proud of our support, I wouldn't be constantly encouraging people to compare our support forums to companies like MM and Wishlist before they buy. So yes, you do offer some sensible advice.

    For what it's worth...

DigitalAccessPass.com (DAP) now supports ClickBank IPN. Set up is a total breeze.

DAP also now has something we call "Login Xpress" for 1Shoppingcart. So after they fill out the 1SC cart with their payment details, and hit the "Submit" button to process their payment, they are *directly* logged in to their members' area on your site. So no splash pages, no waiting for emails, no nothing. From shopping cart directly into your members' area, and they're auto-logged in too. So in just 1 click, they directly get access to the members-only content.

Of course, if you want DAP to process recurring payments from 1ShoppingCart, you have to set up something called "Email Order Processing", which is nothing but letting DAP know (in the Config section) the login and password of the mailbox where 1SC sends the recurring order email notifications. Which is very simple to do too. And DAP takes care of all recurring orders and even automates subscription cancellations from that point.

So like someone asked before, DAP's integration with 1SC, CB, Paypal, Authorize.net are all solid and very easy to set up.

    Cheers!

    - Ravi Jayagopal
