Clickbank Tracking question

Hi Everyone,

I'm just getting ready to release my first product through clickbank and I am preparing some free ebook incentives to grow my list and a pre-sale autoresponder series.

I would like to make this so if a sale comes through a link in the ebook or email that I can track which sales are being generated by each resource.

I thought I could just use my own hoplink/?tid to the links in the ebook, but then it occurred to me that this approach might be cheating affiliates out of sales because the link that actually closed the deal would be my own.

Am I Correct about how this would work, or is Clickbank smart enough to know that the customer *first* came to know of my product by way of a different affiliate link and credit the original referrer with the sale?

If not, what is the correct way of tracking which resource actually triggered the sale, but still let the affiliate that originally got the customer to my site get the credit?

Thanks!

Thank you for that observation Alexa.

I will definitely make a point of creating two different sales pages as you suggest.

If affiliates simply don't use the page with these resources, then I don't need to worry about messing with their referals.

That's an elegant solution, for sure!

    use ?tid=

those are called subids. you can use it to track unique affiliate links, like afflink.com?tid=xyzebook or afflink.com?tid=autoresponder7

tid is just what Clickbank uses for their syntax. most if not all tracking scripts allow subids. The ones who dont are severely outdated.

If I put 10 ads on FB for for example, each one gets its own subid. in your stats you can see which subid led to x number of clicks and x number of conversions

      Thanks, IndexPHP.

I think I'm all set now.

I'll use the ?tid= to track my own stuff, and I'll use a seperate page without optins for my affiliates so there is no danger of me stepping on their toes.
