Pre-launch activity can literally be started over a year before the actual product launch. It doesn't have to be long though. It can be a very short period of time between the start of pre-launch and the actual launch.

From what I've seen, some marketers like to ask questions (market research) of their list to get an idea what type of product that list wants (in an indirect manner). Later on they announce their product launch and countdown.

There are many different things that you can incorporate into a pre-launch to make your launch very successful. It all involves market research, building hype, targeting people that want it, incorporating scarcity (Oh no, only 200 copies, I need to buy! - Oh no, I only have an hour to make a decision! I must buy!), etc...

Another thing that can work for a pre-launch is a mailing list separate from your main list focused only on the product launch. This way you could be more repetitive. People will get more excited. Your product will be stuck in their heads.

#1 necessity in a pre-launch/launch is a mailing list, in my honest opinion.

Robert Plank and I just did a pretty successful launch, and the whole thing, from start to finish was 9 days (including the PLANNING of the launch). So it doesn't have to be anything elaborate.

I have pre-launched my last 4 products, and sometimes the prelaunch was just two days, other times it was three weeks. The biggest thing about the launch is you need proof, scarcity, a good story, and 2 way interaction.

My pre-launch period is 7 days. It's not over yet, but I think a week is long enough.

Prelaunch is important because it helps to get the word out and creates a buzz. People how have subscriber lists can begin to get the word out for you. In the meantime, you can tweak the product and provide promotional tools for affiliates to use to write articles, etc. It does work.

I'm in pre-launch right now with my latest product. I've actually hired some beta testers who will help review the product for me.

They will beta test for a week and I should launch this month for sure.

In pre-launch: Stripe Ads

The website is done, the copy is done, and I'm putting together some ad campaigns.

The better the pre-launch, the less reliant you will be upon your sales page copy.

If you want to learn how to do it really well, Jeff Walker is going to release Product Launch Formula very, very soon.

Buy it. You won't regret it. There's more to getting your pre-launch right than people realise.

I did not do a pre-launch with my first product. I think I would have a countdown of some sort if I had it to do over again.
