Clickbank or Adsense...which would be the better road to travel today?

Just wondering what the ratio of Adsense marketers vs clickbanks affiliates there are out there today.

I know that Adsense is a good money maker but then again you run the risk of having your entire empire of websites crumbled with a flick of a switch by Google.

I also read that you can make a nice chunk of change promoting products from say Clickbank and Amazon, etc.

Which would be the better route to travel today with all the changes and such going on with Google?

You should look at the BIG picture.

Build an optin list first, then you can always send them affiliate offers and also send them to your adsense pages. You can do the two but you should build a list first. That way, you're in control.

^^ Thats how i do it, build a targetted mailing list and apply Adsense to the Pages i link to from the list.

I have a Dropshipping Wholesalers Mailing List that makes great money using this method as the Keywords for Dropshipping on PPC are expensive thus giving a great Payout on Adsense.

  • Well, I do both... And I think it depends on a variety of factors, as well as how you are going to promote your pages.

Promoting Adsense, you can start earning money immediately within 24 hours. With Clickbank or Amazon, you might have to wait for a while longer, maybe one week or so depending on if you are using SEO or paid advertising.

Anyways, if you want to start with Adsense, it is easy to have a backup plan. Just make Adsense sites that revolve around products, and include links to the clickbank or amazon products in it. That way, if you lose your adsense account, it's no big deal...

After getting booted out of adsense twice for no reason including an inactive account via owned by a client which wasn't even active yet somehow got "illegal clicks" I'm sticking with clickbank.

It makes more sense to me. The cb vendors want as many click thrus as possible, they want to make a sale and most of them are happy to have the affiliates doing the work

It depends on your business model... for some businesses adsense will work better, some selling products and some CPA offers

the important thing is to test things out and find offers that convert best for your sites, but more importantly provide good information - personally I think the list building approach is best

I'm not suggesting that AdSense sites aren't a perfectly viable business model in themselves, but I certainly wouldn't want to do all the pre-selling and list-building work you need in order to make steady Clickbank sales and then lose people through AdSense clicks.
        Yes... You are right.

However, there is also the fact that the conversion rate for every Clickbank product is not the same.

If the conversion for the Clickbank product is very low and hardly anyone wants to buy it, then it would be better for them to click on your Adsense ads and earn you money rather than directing them to the Clickbank product. The strategy is, you take a lousy product, and use it as a pretense to force your visitors to click on your ads so that they can look for other options.

But that also depends on how much you can earn per click depending on what niche you are in... If the CPC is high, you might want to do this, however, if it is low then going with solely Clickbank might be better.

However, if you have good conversion rates for a Clickbank product, you can have customers click on your adsense ads and still purchase the Clickbank product through your affiliate link.

How? Umm... by offering an exclusive and irresistable bonus. They will still click on your ads to look around, but they will buy from you in the end...

          I agree with Alexa.

I figure out what my most wanted response is from a visitor to a particular page. If it's to make a Clickbank sale then I'll only promote the Clickbank product on that page. If it's to earn adsense income then I'll only have adsense on that page and so on.

You don't want your visitors to have options you want to make it easy for them to make your most wanted response.

In regards to the OP, I'd diversify for sure. I like having different streams of income from different Affiliate networks, they pay at different points in the month so I always have money coming in throughout the month

        Depends.

Adsense is a passive income, meaning that it works like a banner: you place it on your site and you hope people will click on it. So, if we want to compare apples to apples, we must assume that we're linking to Clickbank's hoplinks using passive means such as a banner too.

The typical clickbank product conversion rate on cold traffic (no pre-selling, remember this is banner traffic) is less than 1%. Let's be magnanimous and round it up to 1%.

        So if we're promoting a typical $47 Clickbank product with a typical 60% commission, that'd be $47 - $3.5 (clickbank's fees) * 0.6 = $26 of affiliate commission per sale.

Now, let's assume that 1% average conversion rate. So, our expected revenue per average click is $26 *0.01 = $0.26

Let's now introduce refund rates for clickbank products (there are no refunds on Adsense!). Depending on the niche, the average refund rates can be over 25% (Forex, Internet Marketing, etc). But let's be magnanimous once again: a 5% refund rate. So... on average, that'd be a net $0.24 per click.

Adsense can easily give out $0.24 per click... so Clickbank offers as passive earners (banners) is not a clear cut winner.

I think its good to have a balance of adsense and clickbank affiliate sites. Why put all your eggs in one basket? I am currently doing adsense sites.Once I get good at that, I will branch out to clickbank sites

I like to do a bit of everything. I like Amazon and that has made us the most money but we also use Clickbank, CJ, Adsense and mailing lists.

You have to diversify in this business.

I don't know what they told you, but adsense
is not as easy as it sounds.

To make a franction of money on adsense that you can
do on Clickbank, you'll have to create multiple high traffic
    websites.

With Clickbank, you don't even need a website.

But either way, build a list first...

I make a lot more money with AdSense than I have ever with sponsors like ClickBank. A lot more. It just depends on what your traffic likes. I think promoting your own product is far better than either, that is really the way to go.

Start out with Amazon.com. It's really easy to get to approx. $50/day, even as a newbie. Then a whole range of opportunities will open up to you.

Honestly, for a newbie, AdSense is the way to go.

    Why?

Because you'll be very, very hard pressed to find a Clickbank keyword with very low competition.

With AdSense, on the other hand, you can easily find a keyword with less than 5000 competing pages and low competition strength. It would be a whole lot easier to rank for such a keyword than some of the Clickbank keywords.

As a newbie, you want to see some actual results quickly, otherwise you could easily get discouraged. AdSense gives way faster results than Clickbank, so that's the road I would recommend you take

I use clickbank products in my blog as a content and adsense ad displaying for that. By this way I can earn in two ways, either if I get clicks I earn through adsense, where as if I get sales in click bank it is also a profit to me.

I am using Forex Trading Product taken from clickbank, so I could get $2 $4 a day in 2 to 3 adsense clicks. Because the market value of forex trading, stock trading, share trading is $10 to $15.00

no fee no win - $35.00
cheap term life insurance quote - $37.00
    donate a car - $30

try some products similar to the keyword and make a quality content on it. PUt adsense 300 x 250 above the content and below the content. Put some link unites and vertical format ads. That's it.

Do some social book marking................ and yahoo answer.... wait and see the money roll in.

    Enjoy
