Blogrush is shutting down... !!??

Hi warriors,

Today I just got an email from Blogrush tell me that it's shutting down the service.

Is it the truth?

    Blogrush never really did it for me anyway. It was just unecessary
    clutter on the Blog.

      Hate to say it but several of us predicted this early on. Admittedly it lasted longer than I thought it would, although I certainly called its eventual demise right at the onset.

      Blogrush was a great idea in some respects. Unfortunately theory and reality don't always line up.

    John posted on the income blog about it -- and just like he said, I've no doubt he'll be crucified by the "I told you so's".

    But hey, we all have projects that don't work out like we hoped, he's just playing on a much larger scale than most of us.

      Even though I predicted it I don't crucify John at all. As you say, he's playing a massive game and for that reason alone I have nothing but total admiration and respect for him.

        Just for the record I wasn't taking a shot at you

        I'm talking more about the bloggers, whingers and complainers that don't actually make any money online yet have something (usually bad) to say about every move everyone else makes.

          I didn't think you were but thanks for clarifying. Bringing ideas across in writing is often more an art than a science - you never know exactly how things will be taken.

          So far people seem to be reacting well to the end of BR......but as you say I'm sure there will be those few who choose to share their schadenfreude with anyone who cares to listen.

    I wonder if it would have worked better if it was an invite only system and people only received X invites. Like gmail originally and how many of the social sites now roll out.

    Blogrush was a different league of launch.

    I thought the idea was solid, but it would depend on the authority blogs using it to make it worthwhile in terms of traffic. The 80/20 rule, etc.

    Good effort though on John's part.

    Hopefully he at least broke even on the development & customer service expenses. Maybe advertising, too, if he was.

    It sucks to see this happen because now all the nay-sayers will come out of the woodwork...

      Hey Warriors,

      I think that this shows that even the gurus can fail.....

      It's like watching the golf tour players make poor decisions
      or completely fluff a golf shot. It shows that they are human
      and can make mistakes....When I see this it gives me hope and
      a sense of confidence because I'm not the only one fluffing easy
      shots....

      And it helps me to get up and try something without the fear
      of failing (sometimes)....

    Hi Warriors,

    There is a lesson for us in this i.e. If you have got
    some project/website, which is not working as per your plans, instead of
    making it the part of our EGO.....we should simply take rational decision
    and shut down if needed any project which is taking our time, energies and
    other financial& non-financial resources...this will make us able to focus
    on winning projects and making a killing :-)

    Really there is a lesson for us in closing down of BlogRush....
    John Reese, as we all know, do know what he is doing :-)
    I expect in near future some great resources( for IMers)
    being launched by his flagship
    company INCOME.com

    Good on John for knowing when to quit. I doubt that he'll have come out of the experience without it having taught him something he can use. If you don't discover what works when you discover what doesn't, it does at least put you one step closer.

    Sorry to hear about this.

    It just goes to show that no matter who you are, you never get a home
    run every time. It's a lesson in reality for us all to learn from.

    The fact is that some projects just don't work out. No matter how good
    the team, idea or plan.

    At least John Reese had the guts to go out there and try something.

    It reminds me of the Theodore Roosevelt quote:

    "It is not the critic who counts;

    not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles,

    or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.

    It's also a lesson that sometimes - you do have to quit a project and
    move on to something better.

    It was a good concept but the CTR's never materialized at least for me. I removed it from my blog a few months ago. Part of the problem is we get immunized to widgets and banners on sites and blogs. I don't even "see" those banners and widgets in most folks blogs. So that's a tough nut to crack to get people to noitce and then interested enought to click on it.

    Its good to see that someone is prepared to say when something did not work, rather than "pretend" all is going well. Whatever the final reasons for John stopping this service, it has been a good experience for us all to learn from.

    It was a great idea and concept, and I am sure will have some kind of resurface in the future, even if hidden in another business model

    I actually enjoyed logging in to the admin area and seeing those red hot topics that people had read and connected with...

    Thanks for letting us know your decision John, at least you did not simply pull the plug and say nothing lol!

    John Reese, will continue to be an immense presence in the online marketing world.

    I have no doubt however, that he will be crucified by some, but that doesn't really matter, because one of the untold secrets of success is being able to fail and keep going.

    Pick yourself up John, learn your lessons and move on.
