Do I have the right idea; newbie help

Ok so please just take 3 sec to reply, i would love that!!

So I have picked my niche. I will be using CB products, Adsense (i believe) and other affiliate sites that relate to my niche (amazon and walmart products).

I cannot put direct aff links in articles and craigslist/other free ads right? So my guess is...

1. Write a word document on my niche subject
- Upload writing to blog with affiliate links and adsense
-Upload to article sites, but not with affiliate links? I would put my blog at the end of the article. Once on my blog they would see my products.

2. I should be writing "How to" and "Top XX ways to..." articles/blogs

Is this the correct starting path??

Yes you are on the right path, but one thing i want to highlight here, Don't upload the same articles to article directories as in your blog, it can cause a serious duplicate content problem for you.

This is incorrect. You will only be penalized for "duplicate content" if you have actual duplicate content within the same blog or site. So if you have a copy of the same article in different areas of your blog or website, it can cause some problems. Uploading the same article to different sites doesn't cause any problems.

I am new so thank you for the reply. I do appreciate it. I am glad that I do not need to write 2 different pieces for one subject.

Also, I checked out your dog blog, that is what I am shooting for. Which platform did you use? I am just wandering; word press, blogger, squidoo...? I like that you have a products tab and have amazon affiliate products, thats great.

    That's a good plan!

But first, make sure you do your keyword research so that you are targeting keywords that you can rank for in the search engines. That way both your articles and your blog will be found by searchers!

yes i will be using those tools i just have to find them. There are ways to search the top words in a google search. Or, i know there are ways to look up "how to lose weight" and see how many times that is typed in.

Why cant i just use the same article for blog and lets say Ezine? Whats the problem. Write the article then say "you can find this article and many other free health tips here" then my blog link. so they already know they will see the article again.

You can have links in articles but like on ezine articles you put them in your resource box below the article. So find a way to weave the link or links into your resource box. But you are only allowed so many usually so check their policy first.

Yes, I do believe that you are on the right track. The only thing that I would change is to either point your links back to your site and have a way to capture email addresses and build a list (Aweber) or point the articles on your site to the money pages. This way your backlinks are pointing to your site.

OR...point the links in the articles to a redirect of the affiliate link on your site...like a "recommends" directory. This way if a product goes belly up or a vendor slashes the payout you can change the redirect to another similar vendor.

Oh...and the duplicate content explanation by scrofford is correct.

Listbuilding is pretty easy. There are a lot of posts on here that cover it and google is your friend (plus Aweber has tutorials) but in a nutshell; you can offer something for free (report, short book, mini course etc) to entice folks to opt into your list. From there you can subtly (or not so subtly) sell to them.

Not sure what you mean by flaming over blogging....I know that there are people against auto-blogging (scraping other people's content without giving credit to the author in the form of resource box etc...) but a blog or subdirectory off of your domain is a good idea. Also a lot of tutorials out there on it but it is very simple once you install one. Log into cpanel and install wordpress through simplescripts or fantasico...log into your wordpress install (www.yourdomain.com/directory/wp-admin) and post your articles, customize your blog etc...Yes, buying a domain and hosting package is a good idea. You do want control over your piece of real estate out there and a domain with your own hosting will allow you to have control over that.

Let me know if there is anything else you need...I have my son this weekend so I'm a little strapped for time today but hope this helps

Great idea! Since you can't use affiliate links I would recommend putting something like:

"courtesy of youwebsite.com" at the bottom or top of each page. I've gotten a lot of success doing that.

Keep working hard. It sounds like you're on the right track.

Just as a side note, you may want to limit your advertising to JUST clickbank, if that's what you're going for, because you don't want a possible $20.00 commission being distracted by a 0.45 adsense click.

  • Hi,

yes you have the right idea - well done!

One thing I suggest you do is look through this forum in the areas that you want to get involved in, so that you can devleop a clear picture of what you need to do.

Any words etc. that you don't understand search in Google or You Tube etc., so that you will develop a good foundation.

The aim of the article is to provide information that people are looking for and/or solutions or answers for queries that people place.

Article marketing is based on SEO so you need to get a handle on the processes that make up good SEO.

    - Keyword research to get an idea of search volume, then to Google to look at competition. (search volume > 2000, competition about 600,000 - 700,000). I tend to use long tail keywords - less specific, less competition.

    - Use the chosen keyword in the title of your article. Include keyword in your article, say about four times in about 400-600 words.

At the bottom is a "Bio Box" this is where put a snappy bit about yourself and a link to your site.

You can put an affiliate link in Craigs List in the description area. You can put a clickable piece of design work there as well - needs to be .jpg

    I hope this helps.

Sorry, I would recommend that you try to make your article flow INTO your resource box and almost punctuate your article with the missing piece that the reader might be looking for. They don't want to know about you. They want to know how to solve their problems. This is your one chance to get them to do what you want....click on that link! Make it count!
