Getting people to review your product

I'm about to release my first digital product.

I'll be giving away a number of free copies to people in the diet/exercise niche to review it prior to launch.

My question is, do I have to run a WSO, or is there a special forum to make this request, or can I ask right here?

  • I might be misunderstanding what your product's about - but wouldn't you best going to a diet and exercise forum to find the reviewers?

I will be asking some non-warriors to review it, but there are heaps of people on here in this niche, well acquainted with review products, and I just thought I'd ask.

I've written several diet and exercise books for clients, an my husband manages a diet and exercise blog for one of his clients. I'd love to take a look at it. And don't worry, we won't share it with his client. PM me if you're interested.

I've seen people ask right here. It seemed ok in the past at least.

One thing you'll find. You'll get a lot of takers but people will be slow to review. Some won't get back to you at all. They may have had every intention of providing feedback at the time but have gotten busy. That happened to me once. I had a product to review and something major came up right afterward and it took me forever to provide feedback.

Another thing you'll find is that some will simply say "Great product, nicely done" Others will point out every spelling error, every factual error, every grammatical error, every formatting error and give you something to correct. Few will be brutally honest if they really didn't like it.

I'm not in the "diet/exercise" niche, per se, but my wife and I are both B.S.N. (Nursing) Graduates. She has received her R.N. license, and I'll be taking my state boards shortly.

Not entirely sure what kind of 'credentials' you are looking for in reviewers, but her and I would both be willing to look at it. Is it an extremely long and involved product? (I do have several projects going, but, if it's a 30-50 page eBook....not sure if you want to reveal that or not....but, I'd be willing to look at it and post my review to your WSO thread)

Asking for reviews in main discussion threads normally get deleted pretty quick. Maybe product reviews or classifieds or a free WSO, but not here.
