Wordpress/Thesis Crisis - Can Anyone Help?

Of course it's a Saturday and of course the DIY Themes forum is down. I can't add new pages or posts to my site suddenly! Well, the page or post does get created, and the title shows up on the live page, BUT the content is blank! For example, I just created a new page called "Interlacing," with text and graphics, etc. All the content is visible in the WP editor. But when I try to view the page on the web, the only thing I get is a page with a title, plus the sidebar stuff and comment box. NONE of the body content about interlacing shows up.

This may have something to do with the fact that during the 30-Day Challenge this morning, I changed my HostMonster php.ini to php5 (or some such). I tried to reverse the process, but that doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks!

It turns out it has something to do with a maximum page size (memory max?). If I shorten the page, it publishes. But at a certain point (there are lots of graphics in this page) it's like it hits a limit and then nothing shows up on the live page.

I may post this question again with a different title, now that I think I know what the actual problem is.

    Thanks.

Does the publishing process times-out when you hit the publish button (like time-out maximum execution time reached)? Can you see a live preview?

A page size limit doesn't seem to play a role here, unless you have a problematic caching plugin.

No time-out at all. And no error message. The only live preview is the "view page" button on the editor, and that shows the problem: everything fine until I put just that one last picture in, and after I press "update" everything goes blank...immediately...until I take some content away in the editor, press "update" again, and the content shows up on the live page again.

Any ideas what might cause this? I thought I read that though there is no "length" limit (unlimited word-count), when it comes to image loading, there is some memory max that can be edited and changed. I just can't figure out how to do it.

If not a page max, any other ideas?

      Thanks,

How do you add that "last" image? Through the usual Add Media link or in some other way? Is the image properly sized for the web? (Sometimes people try to display a 5MB unedited image...) Is the image code correct?

      Istvan,

I am using tables and inserting one image per cell via the "add an image" button in the WYSIWYG toolbar, which uses the "Add Media" window. I uploaded the images to the Media Gallery, and then inserted them into the table cells.

The 15 images are all PNGs, and range in file size from 1KB to 75 KB. In all, the images only come to 152 KBs. So file size seems like it couldn't be the problem...unless in the displaying of the images (I chose to display the thumbnail of each in the page) there is some sort of weirdness going on.

      Caleb,

You were right! I just went back, created screen-caps of the original images so I wouldn't have to line up captions with pictures (I included the caption as part of the picture). The I just inserted the entire image file (not the thumbnail) WITHOUT using tables.

Worked like a charm. Interestingly, the file sizes are much larger, so I still don't know EXACTLY what Wordpress' beef was other than not liking goblledy-gooky html.

      Either way, I'm happy.

      Thanks again!

There must have been a mistake in the code.. I should have looked but I was busy.

Glad to see things worked out for the better.
