In a thread at http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ts-winner.html Allen announced the 1,000,000th post on this forum. When someone wondered how long the second million would take, I ventured an estimate of 9-11 months. Another poster suggested an additional possible factor I hadn't considered. I said I might have to revise that to 7-9 months.

August 6th will be exactly 9 months later. As of this moment, the post count is at 1,926,156.

It's gonna be close.

    Paul, Did I win yet?

Damn, I was gonna go to bed early tonight but if I remember the last time
correctly, Allen gave away one hell of a prize/gift!

Gotta go now. Have a few posts to make!

Have a great Day and Good Luck!

You just keep on posting, when you've pushed it to 1,999,999 I'll snipe post and walk off with your prize. I guess I should say drive off, as I hear Allen is giving away the new Tesla sportscar. For your help in getting me to that winning point, I'll let you sit in my ride - as long as you wear your Sunday best.

Yeah - we remember the 3 word thread, Kevin.

He'll do it Michael. There could be fun in that one though - look how darned low those cars sit. We could always have speed bumps put on his road...........he'd NEVER get to drive it.

Cool, so looks like it took a lot less time for the second million post compared to the first million.

Paul, here is an interesting case study for us. We may want to measure whether the Warrior Forum post rate is following the power law. If we can mark every 200,000th post's time and plot it against the age of the Warrior Forum, we shall get an idea of the direction that this forum is going to and use prediction methods to see when we are going to reach the next post-milestones. Need to put in some curve fitting algorithm software in place!

I'm thinking that there are actually more than 2,000,000 post already actually...

Michael Mayo's post above me is hxxp://www.warriorforum.com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/242921-2-000-000-posts.html#post2414428

I'm not sure how post counts are figured on the bottom of the forum home page, but posts in OT aren't counted towards ones post count, and deleted threads/posts are taken away from post counts.

Seems feasible that the post number might actually be somewhere around 2,414,428 as the above link suggests.

Who knows though. I'm not going to go count them all by hand.

It may be posts in the OT forum that are discounted from the running total. Also, deleted threads would lower the number. I, for one, don't think that spam messages (which get deleted) should count as actual posts.

I think it is funny, 500 people having 2 browsers open, one one the home page (refresh, refresh, refresh) and a written post in another. The post count goes from 1,999,999 to 2,000,500 in 10 seconds. (if you guys don't break the data base!)

When Allen has already decided the next 'milestone' should be 5,000,000 posts:p which will occur sometime around the same time as the end of the Mayan calendar (& end of the world, according to some, saving Allen from ever having to deliver the prizes!:rolleyes. Lol.

All I know is this is going to be INSANE.

FTR...While I may have the most posts in this zoo, my luck with stuff like
this is so bad, it would have to rain lizards for 30 days straight for me to
EVER have a shot at being post 2 million.

This is why I never buy raffle tickets or 50/50s.

Besides, if I make 80 posts today I'm going to get banned for sure.

Hey, do me a favor...whoever wins, pick my next lottery numbers for me,
      okay?

All right, that's it...I gotta get out of here before I laugh myself silly.

Round number milestones seem a bit out of place on an internet marketing forum.

Perhaps Allen should give a prize (if he even has intentions to give one) to post # 2,000,007 or 2,000,027 or 2,000,047 or 2,000,097.

I have a technical question for your vBulletin experts.

Is there some kind of function where admin can type in a post # and see
              who posted it?

I'm trying to figure out how you'd even know who made the 2 millionth post.
It's obviously not by the post numbers attached to each post in a thread,
because if you check them, we're over 2.5 million already.

Anyway, if somebody can shed some light on this, that would be great.

More than that, actually. It was around 1,999,6xx when I looked at the post count (also after seeing this thread). Then, it got up to around 1,999,749 before dropping back to 1,999,696. And now it's up to 1,999,843.

I'm trying to figure out how you'd even know who made the 2 millionth post.
It's obviously not by the post numbers attached to each post in a thread,
because if you check them, we're over 2.5 million already.

Anyway, if somebody can shed some light on this, that would be great.
There's no way to do it from the ACP (I just checked) but

Take the highest post number and subtract the total number of posts. Add that amount to 2,000,000 and that should give you the post number of the 2,000,000th post.

          Or...

If you order her engagement ring from a catalog and it doesn't arrive on time. So, when you get down on bended knee you have a ring box with a picture of her ring.

Yep, she's still married to me.

It doesn't really matter what the criteria are for determining the actual post count, the chances of being the lucky one are...well...based more on luck than anything.

Please don't think I posted that admonition just as a way to take a stab at being the 2,000,000th post. Would I do that?

The downside is that the prize is paid out over 20 years.

And you don't get the WSO Forum until last.

Depends on how they count it. If it goes by actual post count, I think we're over 2,500,000, judging by post numbers. But, if they exclude deleted posts, who knows? And what happens if a thread gets deleted after the 2,000,000th post? Even if the winner didn't have a post deleted, that would bump him/her down, so someone else would move into the slot.

lol .. well, if I win that one, I'll have a Grand Prize Giveaway event in the main forum. Count on it.

Here's something else. We're all screwed if they move this thread to off topic at the last possible moment.

I can see two ways of making that profitable.

        a) Write your URL on his head with a Sharpie. Free promotion where ever he goes. If you do it on the back of his head, he won't even know you've done it because he can't see it in the mirror.

        b) Auction off the prize on eBay. I'm sure there are some people with a bald head polishing fetish.

Don't worry about me. I'll probably get post #1,999,999.

And this whole thread will probably be moved to OT, so none of the posts in this thread will likely count anyway.

Yeah, but aren't all forums counted in the post count? I mean, the post count is listed at the bottom of the main forum index before you enter into any of the specific forums.

Anyway, to me the 1,000,000th post & the prize Allen gave for it was more significant. Because people didn't know about it ahead of time.

Seems to me there's a lot of talk about 'winning', but we don't even know if there's anything to be won yet? And given we don't seem to have added any of the normal 'value laden' nuggets for which WF is noted, I can't help but think we'll all end up losers.

Which will be fine by me. As someone who couldn't win a **** in a *******, it'll be nice to be hanging out with some really cool people for a change.

I'm betting #2,000,000 was in this particular thread.

When I refreshed to check the count it was at 2,000,007

There were 4 posts at 5.06, 2 at 5.05, 1 at 5.03 and that one at 5.02 which by my math makes it post 2,000,000

I have no idea how you come to that conclusion. Did you check all the threads on the front page in all the forums and sub-forums? The 2,000,000th post could have been made anywhere. I could be wrong, but I would think the only way to know which post was 2,000,000 would be to have behind the scenes access.

I just tried my method, but posts may have been deleted since 2,000,000 was posted, so I cannot get an accurate gauge on it. Bummer.

I should have tried it right after we hit 2,000,000 on the post count, but I didn't.

Incidentally, though, doing it just now, one of my posts in this thread was 1,999,999 and Steven Wagenheim had post 2,000,001. (Post #2,000,000 was not in this thread.)

But, those results are not correct, because they were posts made after the 2,000,000th post was made. (Thus my reasoning that subsequent posts have been deleted, and I know I reported a spam post after #2,000,000 so there's at least one post gone.)

Maybe we could just start reporting ALL posts except our own as spam. That way, no matter how much over the 2,000,000 mark we may be, we can bring it back down so our post is it.

I can't see how THAT could possibly create any conflict whatsoever.

You have to be sneakier than that. Just report the ones that seem likely to have been #2,000,000.

Maybe prizes will be awarded at posts #1,000,000; #2,500,000; #5,000,000 and #10,000,000. Those are significant milestones, I think.

(Unless, of course, I had the 2,000,000th post, in which case, it is a milestone and everything else I say in this post should be taken with a grain of salt or disregarded.)
