How to accept checks by mail for payment from customers?

Can anyone recommend software or how to accept checks from customers by phone?

And can you pass along any insights or experiences about doing this?

Thanks for your help.

Not sure about by phone but I just give them an address to send it to and when I get the check I send them whatever it is they want. I only get about 1 or 2 a month but I don't want to alienate people who don't have a credit card or a PayPal account etc. I've never had a check bounce either, hell, I don't even deposit half of them for months at a time.

I don't use this but I know some that do, AcceptPay | Easier Invoicing. Faster Payment., it's an AMEX company and you can accept echecks over the phone.

I once had a blank echeck template that I found on google while looking into taking orders by phone or from a online form by echeck. Basically you had to input their routing and account number and the amount to you and print it on home computer on Check stock paper and take it to the bank. The first time I did this(years ago) the lady looked at me like I was some crook. She said "this is printed on a home computer, this is not a real check and it has no signature" and I said yes I know. She called over the boss who was familiar with echecks who ok'd it and never had a problem again.

If I still had it I would send it to you but I think you can find it on google under blank echeck template or similiar. It may also be on freeware sites as software. The one I had was simply a microsoft word document.

You can put it on a napkin if you want, legally, only that will really garner some looks. Lol.
