Lost 1,000 Backlinks in 24 hours?

I'm still pretty new at this, so it may be normal. but I just noticed that the total number of backlinks to my domain dropped from about 3,500 yesterday to 2,500 today. This is according to Market Samurai's rank tracker.

Should I be concerned?

    Don't be concerned. First, keep in mind that MS pulls its data from Yahoo Site Explorer. Their numbers notoriously change by crazy amounts in short periods of time. I have one domain that according to Yahoo has between 2k and 6k links, and it literally changes by thousands in any given day.

    This is nothing to be concerned about. It happens all the time. If it is permanent, then I'd be worried lol!

        It happened to me too. Now the number of backlinks increases a little day by day.

        The most crazy thing happened on August 20, 2010, according the data of Market Samurai, I had 0 backlinks. But the next day, they all came back.

    I go up and down 1000 here and there. It initially bothered me, but then after awhile, it never affected my SERP, so I don't pay any attention to it anymore.
