I need to change the flexiblity theme so that the main content section is at least 600 - 620 pixels wide.

As a video blogger on youtube, it would be nice to be able to embed my wide screen videos in my blog - and I really like the flexibility theme. But with the default main content section, my wide screen videos bleed over into the sidebar.

Wide screen youtube videos are a minimum of 580 Ã-- 360.

The best resolve would be to move the sidebar over. However, maybe just removing the sidebar for that specific post, or for all posts since your a video blogger would be better.

      Edit: To remove on all posts, just remove the PHP call in the post.php;

Doesn't the flex 2 have its own options page where you can define:
      a) the blog's width
      b) the content area width
      c) the sidebar width... etc.

Caleb, there are a few WordPress specialists in this forum so just so you know, we will come in and answer questions too, especially if an answer requires some clarification or it's incorrect. I hope you don't mind being challenged like that. You are a go-getter and that will get you far, but just remember, that this is a huge forum, with lots of experienced people, who can teach you some things, too.

Pull up the CSS file for that theme and add 20 pixels to the content area and subtract a total of 10 pixels from the sidebar(s). In the case of two side bars, sometimes it is easier to take 10 off each as long as that leaves room for your widgets that are already on it.

The feed is created for you in any WP install. No need for anything.

Your theme has nothing to do with the RSS feeds. Eventually it doesn' have a link to the feed, but the feed is still there.

If you have set nice permalinks, the feed is at
      example.com/feed

Otherwise read the online manual, the Codex.

Permalinks??? I just set up my blog on my own domain and then set diffrent categories. So if I do a post in a category called Free Songs and go to a post it reads www.mydomain.com=?=49 I see in the WP menu or somewhere about he RSS but when I added it to my sidebar it really did not do anything nor did I see the RSS icon so im lost :p

      HI DNChamp,

Try these in your feedreader -

      http://example.com/feed/
      http://example.com/feed/rss/
      http://example.com/feed/rss2/
      http://example.com/feed/rdf/
      http://example.com/feed/atom/

(Taken from the wordpress link Istvan gave.)

      Replacing example.com with your domain.

Check different ones to make sure images/videos
      show up etc.

Different feed urls will cut different stuff out in
different feedreaders.I might not be correct on this
but in my experience example 1 is best, if not go
      for 2 or 3.

      Regarding this -

...it's not RSS related but for SEO many IMers will do this -

      Go to your blog admin
      Go to 'settings'
      Then choose 'permalinks'
Click in the radio button 'custom structure'

Then enter in the input box on the right of this -

      either -

      /%postname%/

      or

      /%category%/%postname%/

If your categories have decent, relevant keywords
most will pick the longer one in example 2.

Once you've done this, if you look at one of your
posts and view the url, instead of -

      www.mydomain.com=?=49

      ...it will show -

      www.mydomain.com/free-songs/bee-bop-a-loo-bop

I am no expert, but I believe you put it in wp-content > themes > the theme you are using. (should be in same folder as that themes index php.

              You are right
The best place for theme related images is your theme's folder - almost all of them have their own /images/ folder. Put your image there.

And in any template file (sidenote: in WP there are themes that are built by template files!!!) you can call that image like this:

              PHP Code:
              <src img="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/images/your-pic.jpg" />
You should change only the image file name!

the RSS feed icon can be uploaded anywhere really, but I generally put mine exactly as above.

Caleb, since WordPress markup is XHTML, the image code has to be closed, ie:

              html:<br>
              xhtml; <br />
              html: <img src="yourimage.png">

Ok, gentlemen, has anyone knowledge of using a plugin that basically
creates the silo linking structure for a blog? I have not, but I'm aware
of the value of the silo structure for SEO.

Have any of you ever seen a situation in which the links in the footer

Good points Jsamson. I PM'd Caleb and wanted to say openly that
I thought that possibly he may know about other areas, such as
Semiologic, so that's why I asked. Also, I'm not completely sure
but I considered some aspects of themes may have overlapping
areas, done the same way, and therefore knowledge of WP may
    apply to other themes.

No disrespect intended toward Caleb, or anyone, as I indicated
in my PM to him. And of course it is appreciated that you're willing
    to help us.

I'm more of a static site and ppc/landing page kind of guy. So I'm

It hasn't been installed correctly. Is the homepage showing up right?

If so, login to your FTP, and see if a file named wp-admin exists. Maybe it's just been renamed by your program.

My question is just to simple but after 4 days of trying I feel stupid but am willing to ask.

I have a WP theme I bought for $59 for a news site I am trying the link is www.newsonline247.com I have no idea how to intergrate the pictures It now says "no Image found' which looks like a default picture.

WP looks so newbie friendly but it seems I need to find a step by step turorial because if something like this finished me there must be so much more to learn.

Thanks Caleb and the others this is a great thread.

congrats! once you get used to it, Cathy, WordPress is really cool and you'll be publishing great blog posts in no time. Also, sometimes premium themes can be tricky for new users of WordPress even though they are great with tons of features, they require a little more tweaking then most other WP themes.
      Good luck with your site!

And.. I didn't see an attack post either. I have never used the SemiLogic theme, nor does anyone need to apologize to me. I am not hurt very easily, yeah, I know I have a lot to learn. I'll be the first to admit, that I don't know a ton of things

Thanks for this is great thread.

How do tags work in Wordpress? I have tagged some posts and they have shown up in
google search listings i.e they have become permalinks. But I don't want this.
