The Importance Of Getting Leverage

Hi there Warriors,

I had a few minutes so I decided I would write a post regarding this mysterious thing called "leverage".

Now obviously you know about outsourcing and all that (hopefully), but if not I want to share some experience and advice with you.

When I first started in internet marketing, the first problem I had was not having enough $ to get ANYTHING. My coding skills were limited and I was horrible at using even basic CMS systems like wordpress.

So that meant I had to shell out money for webhosting, design, themes, and not to mention a whole lot of time.

But what strikes me most is this: Most people get way too caught up in the process of doing things, especially LOW VALUE activities, like fixing minor issues in code or trying to figure out how to make adjustments..

This sucks a whole lot of time and energy out of you, and you will eventually lose steam because of it.

You don't need to know EVERYTHING - nor is it even possible unless you have been around almost every aspect of computers for a long long time.

So my message is this

  • Get these low value activities out of the way.
  • Be prepared to invest in professional skills and services
  • Do not waste time by getting stuck "In the process"
  • Remember that there are 20% of activities that will yield you 80% of the results - find them out and focus on them. Get people to do activities which are too difficult or time consuming.
I know I mentioned that it was hard to spend money at first, but I did it anyway.

So how can you make money quickly if you need to pay for something?

  • Write articles - Super easy and fast to do. Just make sure you have everything spell checked and proofread
  • If you have technical skills, offer it to warriors or people in need for money or exchange skills
  • Forum posters - Webmasters are willing to pay for posts on there forums to get the ball rolling.
  • Offer a product which can solve a problem, no matter how small. People think far too negatively when they assume that just because they aren't "experts", this isn't possible.
I'll just give this to you straight. On the internet, perception is everything. And when you have a product out there, most people will "percieve" you as an expert.

Im not saying that you need to lie about qualifications, hell no. All i'm saying is that most people have it the wrong way around.

It's much harder to build a reputation with no product than with one.

Now that we've discussed a few major issues, I would like to say that it becomes easier and easier with a bit of start up cash and a little cashflow.

I can't stress this enough - Do NOT be tight with your cash!

Here are some services that you WILL require to get started, to my knowledge the best value:

  • Autoresponders - Aweber has a $1 trial period
  • Webhosting - They are all around similar prices $8-$10 - hostgator and bluehost are recommended
  • Wordpress - Very very worthwhile to learn how to use wordpress, you can also SELL you skills with it. Besides, there are tons of free quality plugins and themes you can use to personalize it.
It's important you accept the fact you will be shelling out some $. I think people are calling this the "poverty mentality" as I saw it mentioned a little while ago.

Just think about it like this: Most of these services are only fractions of what you spend in real life. The totals above plus some extras might cost you about $30 a month altogether.

You would easily spend that much on a night out, or lunch/dinner. So why not put that money into something long term?

I hope that this put things into a more a realistic perspective for you warriors out there. Please gain some value out of this, as I have been there and was literally inches away from quitting.

To your success,

Dean
