Giveaway events : good for list building ?

Hi,

I've just been invited to participate in a Giveaway event.

They seem to consider that newbies can participate.

Is it worth it ? Is is good for building a list ?

Thanks !

Philippe

It is good to help you build your list faster, but it would really depends on the quality of the product you are offering. If you have a very valuable product that you are giving away, then you would expect a lot of people grabbing your offer and build your list fast.

Just a reminder, many are saying that you are just building freebie-seekers from giveaway events, not buyers, but then again it really depends how you will build relationship with your subscribers once they become your subscribers.

Yes, I've done one before and it added quite a few subscribers. It's then your job to convince them to buy. We are all freebie seekers and buyers. It just depends on what hits us on that emotional level to make us jump into action.

Yup, it's a good way to start building a list in internet marketing... I got my 1st 1,000 subscribers doing this and the notion that they are all freebie seekers is totally false, I've had over 50 sales from the giveaway special offer section alone (combined for all giveaways I've been in)

I've used them. Yes I've added subs from them.

That being said, some of them are a real PITA to set up.

You have to promote the giveway just to keep your gift in it, and that's assuming you didn't have to PAY to 'upgrade' to put a gift in first.

Here's how you use the JV Giveaways to your best advantage:

Set up a blog about JV giveaways,
Update all the new giveaways you come across
Write some articles about listbuilding and JV giveaways and send them to your blog first.

Put your gift in every giveaway you can, and then let the chips fall where they may.

You may get dropped out of some, some you may not. It's definitely not the "Holy Grail" of listbuilding, but it is a piece of the puzzle, and every little thing helps. Just don't focus all your attention and effort on this one thing.

I feel they do work as long as you have a comparable offer as the other participants. You sometimes see really great offers to opt-in for and then the next person's offer is weak.

I would avoid any free consultation offers as those don't seem to go over big. People want something they can download and print off to hold in their hands. They may not read it right away, but they like knowing they actually got a "product".

I think that giveaways are great especially starting out but agree that a lot of the outcome has to do with what is being offered. I have had a lot of successful giveaways and not so successful giveaways.

JV Giveaway Events are a great way to build a list. I add 10+ members daily to my email list by participating in JV Giveaways. There are lots of giveaway events out there and many insist that you promote their events in order to a) have your gift displayed, or b) even participate in the giveaway. There are plenty of things to know about giveaway events which will increase your chances of success in building your list. It's not a slam dunk but it can be very effective.

Only good if you are working with a good product/person, you don't want to taint your rep by working with bad products.

Giveaways are a good way to start building a list. However after awhile they seem to take up a lot of time and money if you plan to have your product listed in the first 7 pages.

I have done 3 giveaways in the last few months and grown my list to almost 5000, but I don't thinjk it has been worth it. The folks just seem to go for the freebie and not interested in whatever you have to offer. My last email went out to 4000 subscribers, I had 390 opened and only 89 click throughs.

A Giveaway event only attracts Freebie seekers, so they are not exactly good buyers.

Exactly how I saw it. I won't be doing it again. If I continued I could have a list of 50000 in a year and not get a single sale.

How much are you losing on the freebie? If you can get 89 new prospects from 4000 names on your email list, and the freebie is a copy of an information product such as an e-book, it might be worth the trouble.

89 prospects that do nothing is nothing. I use yourmailinglistprovider.com and I have manually entered each and every one for nothing

JV Giveaway Events ... sure they may not be the best form of traffic to build your list but it's a start and it definately works.

Once upon a time I was a freebie seeker ... now I'm a buyer. Just because someone is after something free right now doesn't mean they won't buy in the future.

The key is working out how to monetize the list, pre-sell your offers and funnel your subscribers into good affiliate programs that convert.

Those high converting systems and programs are the ones who have actually thought about 'how do I turn a cold lead' into someone who 'trusts me' into some who eventually 'buys'.

    Do it.
