What are your short-term goals?

Hello, Warriors!

I am going to be away for a while (gotta write! ), but wanted to post before disappearing into Article Writing Land.

What are your short-term goals?

I have 2 short-term goals:
  • I want to be able to spoil Hubby and the kids for Christmas - so I am working my tail off to make money between now and Christmas.
  • I want to earn enough to be able to hire a housekeeper once a week.
Seriously, I know the housekeeper goal might be stupid, but I HATE housework - and I feel like while I am running a vacuum, I could spend my time in so much more productive ways!

So what are some short-term goals that you have that motivate you?

    Hi Shay,

I create the majority of my short-term goals by breaking down my long-term goals. That way I can see what I have to do to reach my long term goals and that in turn motivates me because every time I complete a task on a short-term goal, or reach the goal itself, I'm a little closer to my long-term goals.

My current short-term goals include reviving my blog, 'learning' twitter and selling off various products I've created. It's all part of a long-term goal so, each time I get one crossed off the list, I'm a little closer to my ideal life

Like James I tend to create my short term goals based on my long term goals. I plan yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily - if I didn't I'd get nothing done! I think it's something that became a habit when I was a teacher (writing teaching schemes and plans etc) but I find it very useful.

I do have a short term goal of earning a certain amount before Christmas though (plus I've got to think of the sales shopping after Christmas!). Other short term goals of mine are having a certain amount of content on each of my websites before the end of the year, submitting a certain amount of articles etc.

Wanting a housekeeper is a GREAT goal - I really want someone to do all my ironing!

I'm a mixed bag when it comes to goals. I'm one of these "big picture" visual thinkers and that drives me forwards. I have to admit though that my long term goals are usually broken into shorter term goals for me to achieve them.

        Current short term goals:

        * Improve my bum marketing process (thank you Hamida ;-)

        * Double my Adsense income

        * Double my affiliate income

        * Launch range of health related $17/$17 info products

The above are for 2 main personal goals:

        1. Take my mother to Paris for her 73rd birthday in style.

        2. Downpayment on second mortgage for me!

        That's it for now :-)

Oh and as for the house keeper. I can't remember who said it but it hit me 2 nights ago when I was doing 2.5 hours of ironing (bachelor life eh?) that I could probably pay somebody €25 - €30 for that and I could have spent that time on my business.

For me I'm entering into the phase where I'm trying to grow things so hiring a house keeper for a few hours a week might actually become a mandatory thing as opposed to a choice?

Anyways just my idle ramblings there lol

I do the same. I break down my long term goals into short term goals and I write it down.

All of you should write your goals down on a piece of paper and do what ever it takes to achieve that goal. NO EXCUSES.

I want to average $40-$50 a day so I can continue to live here in Thailand where I'm happy!

Trying to skip the whole 40 years of a 9-5 job and go right from living at home with my parents to retirement (I live in Phuket aka. Paradise)

Working hard to get to that $40 a day mark .. I hope I can do it ..

        Shay -

I'm with you guys. I'm a great cook - but the rest of the domestic genes got left out of me.

For several years I had a 2x a week cleaning lady and loved it - but I was gone when she was here. I'm not a neat freak (which is good because I'd drive myself nuts) but also can't stand someone puttering around the house while I'm working at home. Yes, I'm crazy! If I didn't have to get up and do laundry, etc, occasionally - I'd spend too much time in the office at home.

I solved the ironing problem years ago - if it has to be ironed, I don't buy it.

Short terms goals are an extended trip to visit family in early Spring and a new air conditioning system for the house and hire someone for complete lawn service next summer (rather expensive around here).

Well, I have a hubby that does laundry, so that helps. A lot. (Although my iron is a big circle - it's commonly known as a "dryer." Hehehe)

Housework is just not for me.....

        Goals are great!

By Christmas I want to be earning $200 a day from my sites, that will give me and my little one a happy Christmas, because it will ease the pressure on me financially.

I currently have 4 sites that I'm actively promoting and I'm aiming to double that number of sites within the next month.

1 article per day for each site = 8 articles per day, but pretty soon the first 4 sites will be on auto-pilot so I won't have to be writing so much for them.

My immediate short term goal is to revive my business to a firm footing by the beginning of next year.

I have already got a live-in housekeeper, a part-time cook, and a part-time tutor so I don't really need any more help. All I need is to defend my income.

Hmmm... for now I have the daunting task of getting something for my fiancee since our anniversary is coming up. I'm normally terrible at gift giving so this relatively simple task suddenly becomes not so simple anymore.. I wanna give her something different this time..

Ironing? What's that all about then?

I go a bit nuts with people cleaning around me too, but I'm used to it - the rest of the family are well aware that if it's not done by them, it's going to be some time before it's done at all. Domestic Goddess I most definitely am not.

I wouldn't want a nanny because the point of all this for me is to be able to spend more time with the kids, and a nanny would be defeating the object. It's tempting to outsource my husband sometimes though (don't all rush at once, girls. I couldn't pay another woman enough!). Some days I'm saving up for a divorce, some days I'm just saving up for a hit-man

Short term goals are to find another focus, having just sold the last business I was putting any time into, and to put something half-useful up on all the domains that I've got that are doing nothing more than gathering dust. I'd also like to tweak the developed ones a bit more, implementing what's already worked well for some on the rest of them.

In short, my goal is probably to give the entire empire a major overhaul. I wasn't at all enthusiastic about this prospect up until ten minutes ago, but suddenly I'm wired. It's the Shay Effect again

  • Shay,

Those are some pretty cool short term goals. I recently just got back into the swing of setting goals, after a few years of 'laziness'...

One of my short term goals right now, is that I want to earn an extra $5000 next month that I will use to buy Gary Bencivenga's Retirement Seminar DVD's.

A lot of you might be thinking that $5k is a crazy amount of money for some DVD's, but this guy is a legend among legends, I've been following him for years, and I really believe that the content from his sold-out seminar is life changing stuff. (Gary was a mentor to other legends such as John Carlton.)

Anyway, this is just one way that I reward myself by further investing in my marketing and business education, so I'm really looking forward to it!
