    There are lots of free tutorials on youtube once you know what you are looking for.

    I took some classes here once I think: Online software tutorials, training CDs, Photoshop Tutorials, Dreamweaver Tutorials, Apple Tutorials from vtc.com

    Video tutorials, and very thorough. Inexpensive as well.

    One of the best places:

    Software training online-tutorials for Adobe, Microsoft, Apple & more

    Two thumbs up. I am not affiliated with them.

      Build and host your own site.

      1. Buy your own domain name.

      2. Signup for web hosting

      3. Pick a web development program and get it. I like dreamweaver. It's $$$ but you've got to layout some $ for a business.

      4. Find a topic you like and build a website about it. Test the site on your local machine by running a WAMPserver.

      5. Then build a blog on the same subject to learn wordpress

      You will do some things well and other things you will really screw-up. And that's the idea. Trial by fire.

      Of course there are somethings you WILL need to learn by learning and not by tinkering -- HTML/CSS -- maybe some basic PHP or C# depending upon which platform you are looking for (I'd start with linux/php).

      But start right now after reading this post and build a web page and put it online:

      <HTML>
      <BODY>
      <h1>This is my first web page</h1>
      </BODY>
      </HTML>

      Hope this helps.

        One of the best set of free tutorials I know is Dave's site http://www.davesite.com
        He has tutorials on html, css and a good article on picking a host. The really nice thing about it is that he has it set up to be interactive, so you can try out the code as you're learning it and see how it works.

        I learned basic html dogs' years ago from free tutorials recommended at the old free hosting service geocities. Some of the video tutorials on youtube might be even simpler, but what you basically need is a tutorial that gives you step by step instructions-- and then get in there and try it.

        I'd recommend doing a google search on whatever you want to learn and 'free tutorials' before you ever pay for any training. It may turn out you don't need anything more-- and even if you do, you'll have a better idea of what you're getting and be able to utilize it better if you have a little knowledge going in.

        Lynda.com offers a large library of video tutorials. Sure YouTube is FREE and offers even more, but picking the quality tutorials to chooses from can be time consuming and frustrating.

        Question... are you wanting to learn these things in helping with your Internet Marketing? While knowing how the engine works from the inside out is always a plus, if your focus is just to create a profitable online business then it may be time (possibly) not wisely invested. I'm new to IM and only earlier this month joined this terrific and sometimes overwhelming forum and find myself trying hard to learn a few things on a just a few threads, yikes.

        As for my web design skills ( as it pertains to IM and really most things online) a simple but well run wordpress blog can do more than enough for most.

    Hi,
    IT/Web Design/Programming are three large areas. If you want to learn how to make web sites, I suggest to follow this order:

    1- learn XHTML and CSS, a WYSIWYG can be very helpful
    2- build a site using a CMS (wordpress, drupal ...)
    3- customize your site theme (XHTML and CSS)
    4- learn PHP programming if you want

    Hey. You can get some great used books on Amazon for $0.01-$2, + shipping. I did this recently for your exact specific interest-I'm interested in learning web design.

    I highly recommend:
    -The Zen of CSS Design by Dave Shea and Molly E. Holzschlag
    -The Principles of Beautiful Web Design by Jason Beaird (Sitepoint books)
    -Designing with Web Standards by Jeffrey Zeldman
    -Heads First XHTML/CSS

    I did this and spent $180 and got like 10 web design books.

    Then, get a 30 day copy of Photoshop CS5 from adobe.com

    play around with the 'full web layout tutorials' from psdtuts.com

    or, use this list and start following some of these tutorials

    40 greatest web interface design tutorials

    Add the user 'mlwebco' on youtube and watch his Highest viewed videos. Watch this video and also all his other videos -- 14 years web design experience, great tips and tricks. Especially watch his 'how to get started in web design' and 'how to be a visually lead designer'

    One massive tip: Learn how to be a visual designer and not a 'div/table coder'. Don't set off learning how to make XHTML sites from scratch but rather make visually pleasing sites and then learn how to code when you need to.

    Bookmark my delicious page which I've just made in the last week full of great web design bookmarks. My user name is ryanb6. Theres tutorials, free web-based books, inspiration, and more on there.

    One that I ALWAYS go back to is: "BLUE VERTIGO" for ALL your resource needs: fonts, textures, brushes, etc. Find that on my delicious account or google it.

    That should get you started.

    PS: No links because im a new WF member so I can't yet
