Build a Book/eBook specific website

Hi,
I've developed tons of websites in the past but I have no experience building sites that are specifically to be used for marketing a physical book and an eBook (same book).

Can anyone recommend some guidelines or resources? I'm not an IMer by trade.

Are there basic "selling" templates available similar to how there are templates available for squeeze pages? (e.g How to structure the page -- where to put the call to action, testimonials, etc). And when I say templates I don't mean for the actual design -- I mean more like the IM-style structure and page layout for a IM-book-selling website.

Many thanks.

I'm new here, but I find the common, long sales page a little too cluttered for my taste. I think I understand the concept that you want the potential buyer to stay focused on a single web page and "gulp" in all of the testimonials, details on the subject matter etc... and of course the several ( I think they call them...) CALL to ACTION to buy now! But, this is so common that it becomes hard to tell one from another.

Allot of marketers use this template, but I like the simpler, minimal page... in fact if you can sell your product with a short, yet informative video clip of either yourself or showcasing and then re-enforcing through the use of images and audio your product would come off professional such as in a dynamic presentation or screencast.

Now I understand if your an unproven or unrecognized brand you may need to back up the simple landing page I'm suggesting, but that's where a regularly updated blog comes into my mind. If someone is not committed to buy right then and there then you offer them a place to go (blog) to read up on all of the detail.

However, like I said I'm new and I know lots of folks have great conversions rates with those long, testimonial filled landing pages... I just think you might get lost in the noise.

Thanks, but no --- I DON'T want a single page. I want to do a full 3-5 page SITE based on IM principles and concepts.

That's what I need help with -- this isn't a single squeeze page.

Exactly -- do you know where I can find samples. I can write, I just can't sell (yet).

      BeckM2,

I'd suggest heading to the nearest bookstore and purchasing "The Ultimate Sales Letter" by Dan Kennedy. It will set you back about $12 bucks and teach you everything you need to know about writing to persuade someone to buy.

Internet Marketing just takes those same persuasion principles and puts it onto a web page. (whether on on long page, or over 3-5 pages)

Once you've written your persuasive website, step 2 is delivering targeted traffic to it. That seems to be what brings us all here together... trying to find new/better/ANY ways to achieve that. I can't think of any stand-out resource to point you to on that topic.

Thanks -- I'll check it out. At this point I'm less concerned about traffic (see you in 6 months for that) ....and I'm more concerned about getting out a quality product and a great sales site to sell the product. No point driving hard-earned targeted traffic into a black hole.
