How to build the trust factor with a blog?

Hello Warriors,

Greetings of the Day!

Let's say we're talking about a blog that is built to promote products and/or services, falling under a particular category. Travel Accessories, Travel Deals, Spa Services, etc. in the travel segment. Skin tanning products, hair conditioners, evening wear, fashion footwear, etc. in the fashion segment... and the like.

How would you, as a blogger focussing on a particular segment, go about building trust with your readership?

How would you ensure that once a reader comes to your blog s/he visits repeatedly? [I know 100% retention is not possible, but how would you try to ensure they return?]

I just a video that said people now-a-days don't trust advertisers (nothing new really :p), not even journalists. They trust a blogger's information & views/reviews, and buys products based on the blogger's recommendations. So, I think the level of trust you can establish with your readership can go a long way in deciding how well you can monetise your blog.

Also, what kind of a blog theme would you consider for something like this - One of the magazine-style themes or a normal 2 or 3 column blog theme?

Thanks for your views on this one, in advance
