Hey AWeber Wizards--how do I test when I send to multiple lists?

For each niche where I am collecting email addresses I have anywhere from 3-25 different lists at AWeber.

I would like to be able to run split tests, but if you send to multiple lists then you can't split test.

Most of the niches have many more than 100 each in the lists.

Anyone know how to accomplish this?

If you set-up your webforms with this in mind you can use
a split test to subscribe them alternately between lists a and
    b.

E.g. First visitor gets subscribed to list1a and the next visitor
    gets subscribed to list1b.

This way, you can e-mail list1a and list1b either separately
or together if you're using the same message.

Do that for each list so you split all your list into a and b
    piles. - in advance.

However, now that the horse has bolted, it's a little more
    difficult.

  • Thanks Shaun for a detailed answer.

I wasn't wanting to test opt-in effectiveness or one series v. another.

I was wanting to test broadcast messages. For example I want to be able to test 3 different broadcast subjects and see which one produces the highest CTR and sales.

Also Aweber's support team is open right now, they can also assist.

      I know.

The list1a and list1b are essentially the same list. They
get the same autoresponder series. It just allows you to
filter them out into groups a and b for split-testing via
broadcasts later. It's all done via the intial webform.

So for each list you create in AWeber, you create a list a
and a list b - instead of just one list.

Then when you come to choose your list segments for the
broadcasts later, you take all your a-lists and send them
a broadcast, and then take all your b-lists and send them
      the other variation.

(Alternatively, on the initial webform you can autosubscribe
people to either a list called group a or a list called group b
whenever they join one of your niche lists and then split test
broadcasts between group a vs group b).

If you're doing 3 variations, then it'll be a/b/c lists that you
      create.

But as people are already in your database, I'm not sure
      how you'd do it retrospectively.

I use Infusionsoft which allows me to slice and dice my list
at will via any number of criteria, but I still use AWeber for
      some client lists.
