Everybody wants numbers and quality, of course, but if forced to choose I'll take quality (ie, targeted) list members. Sometimes relatively small lists that are micro-targeted produce more income than lists 10X that size that are less focused in terms of the membership.

To that end (highly targeted members), I like the following three methods:

    1. Articles. Anyone who reads your full article and then clicks the link at the end to visit your page is pre-sold on you and what you're offering. These people make AWESOME list members!

    2. Videos. Same basic concept as Articles. Typically, you can expect a lower CTR from a video to your page, but they are just as motivated and targeted as with Articles.

    3. Forums. Find at least a couple popular forums in the niche you're targeting and participate on a regular basis. As long as you add value to the forum, the members will start to notice you, respect your input, and click on over to your sign-up page. Feature your link in your signature at each forum.

These won't grow your list very quickly (unless you pump out a lot of articles and videos), but I've never found better sources for motivated, engaged, loyal list members.

I totally agree except the last part. A couple well written articles can bring in a lot of subscribers if your product is good enough and your squeeze page is simple and to the point.

Keep in mind though... it's not building the list but what you do with it.

My vote is 1) blog commenting and 2) video with URL watermark for backlinks to the opt in page.

You asked about fastest traffic method to build your list, so I would say either PPC or product launch/JV's...

But like others said, those dont necessarily create the most responsive lists.

For me it's been JV. And don't forget about affiliates. On of my last programs our affiliates drove in droves of traffic. Drove in droves, lol.

The key there being you have to provide JV's and affiliates with lots of tools to use. We had premade PPC ads, postcards they could buy, articles, a lot of marketing pieces already in place.

I must admit this to be true. As an occasional affiliate, products that have ready made tools like that are very hard to resist.

Hi, for me youtube with domain mentioned, you could do a short version of the video and invite people to your domain to see the rest of it. Articles if you have time, original content is always best.

I agree with what's been said. You've got to give something away, but it has to provide value and quality (just enough, don't give away too much) or they will dismiss your company outright. In fact, if you do give away something that does provide nice value - e.g. an ebook or piece of software- you can enjoy a viral effect as satisfied people tell others.

It depends on the niche but I have used PPV with a landing page and then hit them with my auto responder series. Still cost money and can be less expensive then PPC. Free is and will always be the best way!

For quality i would say articles and video.

If you want mass then look at PPC but how many will be quality.

I do a lot of blog marketing. A popup on a blog offering to update then on fresh new tips and tricks when a new blog post comes avaliable works well for me.

I would say create a piece of software that goes viral... I once saw Brad Callen create a viral software, made 1 tweet about it and ended up with a 60,000 person list in less than 2 weeks. That was 1.5 yrs ago... to this day he still gets about 60-100 subscribers a day from that little tool.

Also, email demon changed the way I marketed to my list and actually worked on making them more responsive. Great concept. See Sig below

Because what good is a huge list if they aren't buying from you?

Point is for them to, trust and buy from you, no matter how big or small the list is.
