Dude, did you do any research on this? This would have to be one of the most competitive marketplaces online. The answer to your questions would entail the worlds longest reply.

I was going to suggest a slightly easier niche....like weight loss or dog training.

Well, no matter how competitive the niche, you can always find some long tail keywords that aren't as competitive. I don't know anything about the play guitar niche, and I'm certainly no SEO expert, but I'd recommend using Google's keyword tool (or another one) to find some keywords that get some traffic but aren't super competitive. So, instead of targeting "learn to play guitar," maybe something more narrow, like a particular type of guitar style, or "learning to play guitar quickly" (though even that might be too competitive, I'm just guessing. Then you can write articles and blog posts that target these easier keywords. Or if you do PPC, it's a little more affordable.

well it's hard to sum it up in a forum thread, but here is basically what I would do.

First you need to use the firefox web browser, and download the plugins called seo for firefox and search status.

You will also need a plugin on your blog called all in one seo.

Ok so now go to the google keyword tool and type in your broadest keyword in you niche.

    So "play Guitar"

Then what you will want to do is go to google and start typing in keywords from the google keyword tool one by one.

Use your firefox pluging and click the Y page links for the #1 result. Look for keywords that get a high search volume and under 30 Y page links.

After you find one go make a new blog post on your blog using that keyword, fill in your all in one seo plugin with that keyword you found.

Now what you need to do is start building one way high page rank backlinks to that page.

So to do that just go here Welcome to Pauls Quality Backlinks and order the biggest pack of 120.

Build all 120 backlinks to that blog post as fast as you can, and ping them when you do.

Do this like an animal and choose as many keywords that have under 30 backlinks and add the backlink packet to every single one of your posts.

Be sure to follow the instructions in all in one seo and you will have a pretty good chance at taking the number one spot for that keyword.

Are you adding keywords to those blog posts?

Ok, driving traffic. I'm not so worried about you ranking as that may take a bit of time - but you can drive traffic, and you can make sales.

Pretend your "guitar lesson store" was offline, and you just opened in a small little town of like 15 people. No one really knows about you except those 15 people.

Now imagine you are able to put some giant billboards up on the highway, and all of them are showing everyone driving by that you have a guitar lesson store. Do you think you might reach some people?

Now imagine, you put those billboards on every major highway in the US.

Will people know you exist now? Will you get traffic?

This is what you need to do online. You need to make lots of billboards (content) that give directions (links) on how to find your business.

So, article marketing is like writing up a nice flyer on some related topic that people looking for guitar information might be looking for, and you can make a link at the bottom of your article that points them to the source or where they can find even more information that might solve their problems.

Video marketing is the same. Make an informative video, stick it on video sharing sites, and link back to your site.

      Etc, etc.

Now here's where it gets good. If your content is really nice, people like to share it with their friends and others. So, someone else in the music niche might want to share your article on their blog, and in the article directory they can get permission to reprint your article on their site - provided they keep the link in tact. Imagine 10's or hundreds of people wanting to put your video on their site - which you have watermarked with your web address?

Word gets out, and the point is to keep getting the word out. Valuable and entertaining content, with directions on how to get more of it.

It's like placing fliers on cars in the parking lots, or giant billboards all over - telling everyone where they can find how to get more about solving their problem with guitar lessons.
