Phil Wiley (Internet Marketing Star)...

I'd not realised until Martin Avis sent out his newsletter yesterday that Phil has been quite seriously ill over in Oz for several months.

Phil is one of the nicest most unassuming blokes I've ever met, He's originally from the UK (not far from me actually), and emigrated over to Oz a number of years ago.

Phil sends out his newsletter quite infrequently so I hadn't really given it any thought about not receiving it for a while.

Anyway he's blogging about his illness from his hospital bed and knowing Phil there will be a marketing lesson in there somewhere. From my hospital bed – long, rambling version

Thought it would be nice if the Warriors could send him some virtual good wishes. (He's definitely one of the good guys)

Hint get yourself on his newsletter if you really want to get to know about IM stuff.

Cheers
Kim

I remember once sitting over lunch at an IM conference with a group of people including Phil. A couple of loudmouths were showing off about how much money they had made from IM. Even by my own standards, it wasn't that much. They completely ignored the modest guy sitting with them.

When Phil went back to the buffet, I took a lot of pleasure in pointing out to these two that Phil was a millionaire several times over from his IM work. A lovely man, quiet, unassuming, completely free of marketing bull**** and always ready with help and advice.

Thanks I have joined his list . I wish him well in combating this illness.

Kim, whereabouts in the UK are you both from then, if you don't mind me asking?

        Edit:

I just followed one of his links, and ended up getting a free report on how to build a big list quickly and it's quality stuff! Glad I found this, thanks!!

I suspect I was sitting with you too Pearson! The UK mafia!

It was a real shock to find out how poorly Phil has been and even more of a shock to learn that he is banned from traveling for the forseeable future. I always look forward to meeting up with Phil in weird and wonderful places when he comes over to the UK.

Thanks for posting this Kim - I wrote about it in my newsletter, but didn't think to post here as well.

Ah cool! I can see the advantages to live up North, especially if you do I.M. - more countryside and affordable cost of living

I love the humility in this post. I've never even heard of Phil, but based on this, I like him already.

      I hope he get's well.

Phil's was one of the first newsletters I joined when I started out. I loved his style - mostly because I really do appreciate that kind of personality, and a distant second simply because it was unique and a refreshing change.

I didn't realise he was in Aussie land now, though?

    cheers
