Does the IM Sales language work for other Niches

IM sales copy is a little over the top.

IM Guru unveils his auto-matic CASH machine to the masses.

etc..

I am making an opt in page for an educational tutoring niche.

Does

Expert 200 Dollar an Hour Math Tutor Gives Away Over 2 Hours of Instruction for Free

Work as an opening line or does this hardcore salesy stuff only relate to money hungry IM folks???

Thats a really good question and my first response is NO
But it all depends on what your product is and who your target demographic is.
My experience with my non IM products (which is 95% of my stores and products) is if your demographic is women - forget it - its too over the top.

I think the key is to find the element of frustration that your target needs to have fixed or what their biggest pit fall is and exploit that element in your sales letter.

What problems are the people in your educational tutoring niche trying to fix?
Answer that and turn it into your headline

But just beware if you are selling to women and the offer sounds too good to be true...
    Well you get my drift.

    I think a woman's BS meter is finer tuned than a man's
Does your educational tutor niche contain more men or more women?

This is where knowing your market will determine how hard core your sales page should be.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

It is tutoring for an entrance exam

    Last year statistics

    60% Men
    40% Women

27% less than 24 years of age
    53% 24-30

80% less than 30 years old.

These are people who have graduated college roughly 4 years ago and work in a proffesional environment and are looking to go back to school to get an advanced degree.

So I like that fact that it is men under 30 for the most part. But the whole proffesionalism is what is throwing me for a loop. MY client the tutor sees my over the top sales copy and is unsure if this is a fit for our market.

I am testing to see what pulls but it will take a while to get enough data to make a judgement. Looking for more insights so I can adjust if needed right now.

"Expert 200 Dollar an Hour Math Tutor Gives Away Over 2 Hours of Instruction for Free"

What EXACTLY do your prospects learn in that 2 hours of free instruction?

What will happen to them once they learn it? How will they feel?

WHY are you giving away $400 worth of instruction?

Why do they NEED to get this instruction? Any consequences for NOT getting it?

Answer those questions and you'll have elements for a much stronger, but completely hype-free headline.

    Hope this helps,

    Brian

    Great stats
You would be surprised at the number of people out there trying to sell something and they don't know who their target is.

Considering these are college educated males under 30 I wouldn't insult their intelligence by sounding gimmicky with the sales letter.

You may want to tailor your sales letter to appeal to their ego.
Perhaps something that talks about saving them time so they have more personal time to go out and do the activities they love.

So your title - "Expert 200 Dollar an Hour Math Tutor Gives Away Over 2 Hours of Instruction for Free"

    Could be changed to -
Are you striving for that top dollar salary but need an Advanced degree?
Are you struggling with the time and financial commitment needed to earn that degree?
Name of Tutor wants to contribute to that advance degree by giving you $400 worth of tutoring FREE

Something like that. I don't know the full particulars of your offer but the 2 questions posed above will solicit a YES response which puts the buyer in the right frame of mind to take the offer.

Anyway, writing copy is not my strongest area - I thought I would throw that sample out there.

Because its a service thats provided I would be cautious about making claims that are marginal - certainly don't make claims that are over the top. This isn't like an ebook where the customer buys it and then you never see them again.

If your client is worried create a couple different sales letters and split test them. As long as you aren't making false claims or promises your client should trust you - after all thats what they hired you for - right?

Hope that helps - good luck.

Depends on the target market, like most everything else.

I'm curious why you think "Expert 200 Dollar an Hour Math Tutor Gives Away Over 2 Hours of Instruction for Free" is "hardcore salesy" since I don't think it is, if the tutor actually makes that amount and is actually giving away 2 hours of stuff.

Hardcore salesy would be more like "Expert Tutor Shows You How to Instantly Make $200 an Hour Tutoring, Even if You Flunked out of Grade School" since it's hard to believe someone who did poorly in school could quickly become a high-paid tutor, and do tutors really make that much?

BTW, Tudor was an English royal family; a tutor is a private teacher.

From my personal experience, in several non-IM niches, the typical stuff we take for granted in the IM-world works even BETTER in small niches since they either haven't seen it before or don't see it often.

What works in IM, must work in other industries even better, because IM peole are kind a picky about the sales copy etc...

CashDoctor, I think your headline will work, but it's a matter of testing. I may like it but I'm not the prospect.

      ????

Where else will you see the exact same "who else wants to" headline used over and over again.

I mean, good IMers are picky, but there are so many noobs who settle for last best, that it would be hard to call us "picky".

      Just IMO anyway.

Thanks for the info. I will create another page and begin testing. Been looking forward to some split testing?

Thank you to all for your input. Yeah I am not way over the top by any means with my sales copy but I will try the 2 approaches and let my customers make the decision on what they like.

No matter what market or industry you're in, there are always human pyschological traits that always remain the same and you can exploit them with your copy and marketing. And many of these traits go unchanged from person to person in any market- the way you find out the best methods to exploit these traits is by testing- and like you said, letting your customer/market pick the winner is always the best choice.happy testing
