I'm looking for a career change

One month from now I will be laid off my current job.I am determined not to go back into the work force.I have been a member here for almost a month now and I see the great stories and success some members are enjoying.

I have been wanting to start my own IM business for some time now but I used my job as a crutch. Now I will be jobless and have no excuses.I feel if I can put in 8-10 grueling hours of hard work everyday for someone else, then surely I can do it for myself and my family.

I will have what amounts to three months pay that will hold us over. What i'm asking you guys is your opinion on what I can do to start laying the foundation to my IM success now so when I do get laid off I can hit the groung running and put that 8-10 hours into my own business.

I have been lurking in the forum over this past month and to be honest I am overwhelmed as hell reading all of the post.If you guys wouldn't mind can you give me some guidance and some things that helped you guys out when you first got started or how you would do things now if you had to start from scratch.

I hope you guys can help and I really appreciate anytime you spend responding to this post. Thanks

David

    Hi,

    I know how you feel.

    My advice

    1. Join the war room
    2. Read EVERY post by Allen says on this entire forum. Hidden within his posts are "THE" ways to make money on line.
    3. Read this forum a LOT.

EDIT. I didn't say take action because I wanted to save something for others to say. What the heck. TAKE ACTION when you find your passion.

Hi, or if you're interested in freelance writing gigs (I made $700 a month working part time), start with performancing.com and problogger.net and look for freelancing jobs and blogger gigs.

    Good luck!

        Hi David -

        I've been there too.

My advice is don't spend too much time trying to figure out what to do . . . lay out a course of action, go with it and stick to it.

        I wish you the best.

        Much success,
        Steve

    Hi,
Getting laid-off can't be fun, not that I'd know. If I were to give you some advice, it would be to work overtime in trying to start your online business and put something good on the web as quickly as possible.

Another tip would be to try the bum marketing method, which is a simplistic but very effective way of generating money and best of all, its free.

And if you ever need traffic tips, be sure to check out the e-book on my site, as it's also free.

    Best of luck,
    Chris

He's getting Laid off Dude! - there is no overtime!
Bum marketing method! that's a queer one don't ya think? Simplistic!
      How old are you really?

My 5 well educated kids wouldn't have known the meaning of " simplistic" at 13, they did however know how to earn their own pocket money and ............ the difference between smoke and fire.

Just my 2c 1 penny worth etc

I know someone who was in your exact position

go to this WSO post and scroll to the very end of the page. The last post there contains an open letter from a man who faced the same thing as you.
    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...e-15-left.html

If you are interested in talking to him - I can PM his contact info to you. He can tell you what worked for him and what didn't.

Sometimes I think you need to hear from someone who has recently done what you are trying to do VS listening to any of us who have been doing this for a while.

PM me for his contact info - I'm sure he would be happy to share his good and bad stories with you.

David - I faced a similar situation last year. I was left to support myself and my family with 4 kids using online sources, plus I was in debt up to my eye balls. Thankfully I was able to build up my income over the past year (working tons of hours every day) and I KNOW you can do it too!

    dlinden,

the most important thing: You HAVE to work hard in the beginning, since nothing will arise from nothing.
If you have three months only, it might be hard since it is VERY difficult to acquire skills and knowledge in that time AND at the same time already have a great income.

IM can imply a lot, things like web site building, design, PHP programming, JV forming, list building, How to write a sales page, ebook, marketing strategies an incredible load of knowledge in so many different aspects.

You have to dedicate the time to learn all those things, keep reading forums and communicate to LEARN. Keep expectations low in this time when it comes to earnings.
Once your business grows, it will grow and things sorta start to automate themselves...if you already got 100s of sites, if you know partners and have lists...then the money comes in and you dont have to do much (almost).
I wish you success and luck and getting the earnings up fast!!Stay focused with a plan and your ideas and follow this plan.

I am feeling your pain at this time. It can be tough knowing that you will be laid off and its never easy. My advice is that though it is true that IM business can be a dream-come-true for many, i can testify that it is not as easy as it sounds. Having a realistic expectation and a lot of hard work is needed. You may also feel that this business can be a very lonely business. Thats why we come to this forum to get our daily dose of inspirations and also encouragements. I wish you success in the coming months ahead.
