Video Ads on YouTube Content, Allowed?

4 replies
Hi Guys,

I read on this URL : YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
it says in section 4D :

# You agree not to use the Service for any of the following commercial uses unless you obtain YouTube's prior written approval:

* the sale of access to the Service;
* the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions placed on or within the Service or Content; or
* the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions on any page of an ad-enabled blog or website containing Content delivered via the Service, unless other material not obtained from YouTube appears on the same page and is of sufficient value to be the basis for such sales.

is that mean I cannot add *few* seconds commercial ads (in video format) within my original video I'm going to upload on YouTube? but why I can see there's Apple (explicit) commercial ads viewed by hundred of thousands people without getting banned from Youtube? or even Blendtech promoting their blender...?

am I get misunderstood here about the policy? thank you...

      Rick, since English isn't my first language, if you read that policy, technically if you have a video (your original video) and you have 30 seconds commercial ads on it. is that mean you're breaking YouTube's rule?

    This isn't about your content you create and upload. It's about other people's. These clauses are about the technical ability to install a DHTML "gateway" on YouTube which charges people to access it, inserts new commercials before and after YouTube's videos, or adds new advertising to YouTube's pages. It wouldn't be all that hard for a browser toolbar to do this.
