Number In A Domain Name?

I would like to get one word popular domain name like auto or forex. I am aware that all the extension and all the future extensions are already taken on one word phrases.

So what if I just put number 1 on front of it like 1auto.com I know it probably wont affect SEO but what would be a general opinion about number in a domain name.
#domain #number

I have seen that on quite a few sites during my browsing and as I never go past Page 1, it must be ok SERPS wise.

Yes, I have seen those also in search results quite a lot. I did look up some domains that I am interested in with number 1 at the beginning but they seems to be all gone as well, didn't even realize they where that popular.

Yes of course all popular "dictionary" domains are gone but it does not means you cannot have them. With iCANN rule if one domain is purchased and never gets renewed; it expires after a time. After that time it gets available again for registration.

Just imagine a domainer snatched autoparts.com in the 1994's he kept that domain for years but no one interested to buy that domain at the price he wanted. After that he lost intesrted and never renewed. So the domain got expired and got available for registration again.

But we at 2010, think all these domains are already taken, without knowing that precious domain is available to register. There are marketplaces that offer the information of expired domains where you can find many valuable domain names for your business at regular price.

I am sure that there is a software that would flag up any good domain that is about to expire and then there is hundreds of people backordering it and waiting to put their bids in. I think there is very little chance for me finding it by accident and doing it manually.

From what I've seen you can pretty much put anything behind your domain name like even a z or 1 or whatever you like as long as you do your onpage seo and other linking stuff correctly.

    Good luck
