Follow ups or newsletters / broadcasts?

Depending on what autoresponder you use they may call it newsletters or broadcasts...

The question is:

Are you better off emailing your list with a series of follow ups (automated emails) or newsletters (so something you write on a regular basis and send out)?

    Both.

You may want to create at least 10 follow-up emails for people who are joining you, so that they get something valuable from you in the first place. Follow up messages are great, because you do the job once, and they continue to deliver as long as you have this list. So, try to make the follow up emails without some specific dates, times or periods, so that it works repeatedly.

Then you might want to send broadcasts or newsletters time to time. This is where you can promote some stuff and make some cash from your list.

If you're using Awaber (I am not sure about others) then there is the feature that you can do a segment to whom you want to send the broadcast message.

For example, you do not want to send any promotional materials to people who just join your list. So, you set up that the broadcast message will go out only to the people after the 5th follow message. This is the way how you can build stronger presents with your list.

I hope it helps a bit.

    Newsletters work better.

I do both in my emails - 15 followups and then a big bonus at the end, with broadcast when i am doing a competition or there is a product launch.
