How do you make a reliable contact form

Using a contact form usually means sending a notification email from your server containing the message that your visitor has left. If your domain is hosted on a shared server then I have found that at best the email delivery can be unreliable and at worst unusable (nothing gets received).

This is what has happened to me. I have several contact forms and a small self hosted email list on many different domains. None of them are working right now.

Does anyone have any suggestions, short of hosting everything on a dedicated server, how this problem can be fixed or worked around?

All suggestions welcomed.

Steve

I am using a php contact form. It uses the php mail function to send an email notification to me. If my shared server is blocked by ISPs because the other domains on the server have been spamming then I will never get the email.

This is my problem - I'm not getting the contact notification emails.

I can't tell you about straight "html" websites, but for WordPress-driven sites, Contact Form 7 is top notch and as long as you *remember* to add your contact email address in the configuration, your messages will get delivered, even on a shared server.

Premium membership is only $29.99/year so it's affordable. What is the deliverability like? Do your emails allways get through?

I also have a small list of people that I can't contact because my server is blocked. Do you have a solution that would enable a one-off send to 300 people to invite them onto another list? This might be a tall order because I guess it could easily look like spam.
