Why I got banned from WF

On July 27,2010, I put out an email to my readers with the subject line: As the pendulum swings ... with ad copy at the end of the message.

A number of my readers told me I should post the message on the Warrior Forum ... so I did - but ...

Being an old man ... about as computer literate as an ol'yella cat ... I simply copied the email and posted it with the ad copy at the end.

When I got Ken's email telling me that my post had been deleted and advising that it was because of the ad copy at the end of the post, I thought he meant I should post it again without the offending ad -- so I did. I simply misunderstood.

By reposting a deleted post, I violated the rules and was justifiably banned for a week -- BUT ...

Below is the content of my original post because I believe it is information Warriors should consider.

"As the pendulum swings ..."

Have you ever wondered why there is a proliferation of "get rich quick" crap on the Internet?

Well, it's nothing new. I've watched the pendulum swing for 50 years.

Here's how it happens ...

Back in the mailorder days, there would be a number of articles about how much money could be made selling "how to make money" information products - and- how easy it was. Then, someone would write a book about "making money with how to make money reports." -- Then another, and another, and another. Then came the "plans & programs" that promised to make the money for you ... all you had to do was pay them to do it for you.

In the beginning, the books were written by real people who were actually doing it and the books explained in great detail how to do it. -- No hype. No B.S. -- Then, the research writers wrote books. Then pure amateurs rehashed the same thing; again, and again ... only repeating what they had read.

Then the readers of those books, of course, created a whole new generation of "how to make money" books, booklets and reports.

In a while, the "opportunity seeker" market was saturated. More and more "how to make money" reports ... most of them crap ... being sold to the same audience; cutting the market into smaller and smaller pieces. Fewer orders for each marketer.

When the "crap" purveyors saw fewer and fewer orders, they moved on to greener pastures - and - the unfortunate beginners never made enough sales to continue in their efforts.

Soon, the pendulum had taken a full swing and the only ones left were the "real" people with the experience to back the information in their books.

But, then again, there would be a spate of articles about how much money could be made selling "how to make money" information products and the whole cyle would start again.

I've seen it happen too many times in mailorder. Now, it is happening on the Internet.

Until the pendulum takes its full swing, expect more and more crappy "how to make money" information products, plans and programs on the Internet.

Jim

P.S. -- I will continue to recommend only those "how to" works written by master craftsmen who are worthy and well-qualified to share their knowledge with you.

Hope that doesn't get me banned again.

    Jim, Great post.

Thanks for filling us in on the reasoning of your ban.

Your post may also help others to understand that mistakes can be made
even by an established person such as yourself. It also shows how to handle
the situation if it were to happen to someone else.

Nothing good comes from looking at the negative side of things. A positive
attitude can set a person free.

I really enjoy reading your posts as they always convey wisdom that is
rarely found in the world today.

Glad your back and thanks for all the fish!

    Have a Great Day!

It's early in the morning, so forgive me if I've misread...

But didn't you just post another version of a deleted post? Will this get you banned, and if not, what message does that send?

"Post a deleted post once, get banned. But do it twice and the world is your oyster!"

    I don't get it

All that aside, I wholeheartedly agree with your message. There is way too much rehashing of the same old information. The pendulum may have swung too far. Time to weed out the fakes and posers.

However, this is not to suggest that there aren't new folks coming out with brilliant stuff. This is more a cautionary tale to really examine those from which you take advice.

    Good post, Jim.

"A rose is a rose is a rose" Same message, different verbiage. The message is right on the money. I was being tongue-in-cheek on why he was banned in the first place.

Ok...I'm confused too. I mean, I don't mean to stir the pot and I am a bit of a Yankee BUT... none of this makes sense to me as far as the reasons for the banning if any self promotional copy was removed... but I guess it is not for me to question why...

Nice point of view on the topic of your original post, all the same. And welcome back!

A serious person wanting to make some money could take a look at your site, get your FREE report on ways of making money and by DOING IT could have moolah in his pocket in a couple of days.

It is getting harder and harder to find people doing their money making methods as opposed to writing (or worse yet, outsourcing their writing) about it.

PS. I still buy and sell personal property (chattel) on a routine basis. Only today, I'm almost exclusively using Craigslist and eBay...no need to go out snooping for stored value personal property these days, it comes to my desk. Still using a technique I learned from you decades ago Jim.

Jim, I've never met you or spoke to you before but what you write is the plain and simple truth of how alot of people make up to £500 a day.

I had a friend who got me into making money online, about two years back. He told me all he done was bought a book ($37) then rehashed it himself and sold it on 3 different marketing forums (maybe even here, I don't know) and he made over a grand!

The shame is that each time the information gets rehashed, it loses its quality. This is because the people who rehash the information are only looking to make a quick buck by selling the rehashed version of the original, so they never actually implement what it is the orginial is teaching and thus do not actually know or ever learn the real secrets the orginial has to offer through experience.

Take for example a product I bought not so long ago. It was a major hash job about using Clickbank and PPC.

It was crap - however when I started experiementing with Clickbank and PPC myself, done my own tests, recorded my own results and tweaked my own advertisements and contents, I made a killing.

I couldn't help thinking that I could offer so much more than the author of the book I orginially purchased, and it was then that I realised I had bought a rehashed book from a guy who didn't actually have experience.

Anyway Jim, it's odd to say considering we are online and I haven't actually met you, but nice to meet you.

Although you never truely know somebody until you meet them in person (and even then things can be decieving) - by the sheer ammount of respect other warriors feel for you, I'm teaching myself that you are no doubt a good hearted man who talks the truth, and because you talk the truth, I like you. (I've been seeking knowledge all my life and will never stop).

    Yours,
    Magik

Thanks for the information. Yup, it doesn't take one too long to see the same bit of information being repackaged repeatedly and released to the masses. I had taken a stab at internet marketing back in 2001 and lasted about 6 months before returning to my day job. This time around and with the tremendous amount of feedback available here on just this one single forum it has saved my allot of fishing through those long, long, long sales pages and try and see the tree infront of the forest.

Ahhh, did i use that cliche correctly? Will, you know what I mean...i think i do : (
