Help marketing my site

My site is the one in my signature. I am having a problem marketing my site as the title suggests.

It is a money based real estate trading game. There are two versions. One that uses play money and one that uses real money. Real money actually allows players to make money on their investments. The thing is, I am not exactly who to market this to or how. PPC is expensive and even though I have some players, NONE of them have actually forked over money to play.

I've been thinking about incentive contests that would reward players with cash for owning the most properties by the end of a certain time period, but that would be costly, so I figured I would run it by some people in the know before trying that. Also, I was thinking about the possibility of appealing to the gambling crowd.

Real Estate business in total is still very low. Try when the economic crisis is over and well recovered if you ask me.

Dude, this is a very cool website! I just uploaded the link to my 700+ FB friends

The first thing you need to do is figure out who your market is. Generally when i first come to a site i'll know instantly whos its market is, if its a good site. With your im kind of struggling. Is it; mums, teens, students, older crowd, business dudes ???? Or everyone?

Umm if i where you i would get as many natural organic users first, in order to do this you need to offer prizes, like real prizes! A Digital camera, movie tickets, coupons etc. There are plenty of stay at home moms who strictly sign up for stuff with the possibility of winning free stuff.

Secondly, once you have a fair amount of users, i would do some press releases and get it onto the radio, tv, newspapers and google news.

I have found a couple of small probelms though. 1) You need to make it like a whole city, at the moment the layout is just of some apartments. Not cool or big enough. 2) You need to focus on simply getting users first before monetizing, i would not promote the real money part on the home page. Let people sign up for fun and prizes first then after they sign up offer them the ability to play for real money and earn (Again this depends on your target market).

And in order to get infront of your market you need to advertise on those sites.

You have a very good idea, it just needs to be 'sharpened' a little bit.

I would approach real estate clubs - their members are generally in the game for real and I can imagine such a site being interesting/fun for them. I think even the meeting newbies would be intrigued. Certainly it would be a good place to get feedback on your game.
    I think it's a really neat idea.

Here's our local club: Victoria Real Estate Investors' Club- Home Page

Gord - the guy who runs that one will certainly lead you in the right direction of other clubs.

    Good luck!

Probably, but maybe this will appeal to their desire to practice

Why don't you try a Facebook ad. There are a lot of people on there who love playing games.

I've actually used them and it works out nice. But the ads are so expensive. Between 50 and 90 cents a click. Though I think if I combined the advice of offering a nice physical prize using facebook ads, it could work out nicely.
