Emailing Large Files For Free

Yahoo and Gmail only accept 20 and 25 MB files respectively.

If you want to email a large file, you can do it at
SEND6 - Send large files

I just sent 63 MBs in about 5 minutes.

Nice. Free. File has to be downloaded by recipient, and remains
in Send6 hopper for 7 days, awaiting downloading.

It's not for me to vouch for it's safety, but it's totally free at the basic level I used it for. It has "pro" levels with monthly costs for higher useage than I needed it for.

    Thank you for sharing.

Yousendit is also a good service that has the same principle.

Actually, Dropbox is 2 gigs free space. Invites will get you 250 Megs per friend up to 8 gigs. Still great for free.

Another place to stick files for sharing is MediaFire. The free account has unlimited space, unlimited uploads and downloads. The practical restriction is that individual files must be under 200 megs. Paid account allows 2 gig files. Also the free account, while great, is slow for uploading. Paid is fast.

One caveat about the free MediaFire account, if you just stick stuff there and don't login or use the account at all you're stuff will be tossed. I don't remember how many months idle before deletion. Unless you pay, don't use it for archives or backups.

Well, thanks for sharing. I was not aware of SEND6, I'll have to try them out.

I've used DropBox in the past, but there is no harm in having more than one string to your bow.

        Thanks and Regards,
        Jeff.
