Any Advice on how to Tackle "about 10,000,000 results" keywords

So here is my situation.
I have been learning and experimenting for almost two years with trying to make my squidoo lenses and hubpages rank number one on the first page of google.

i have been able to get them to the top spots...but only for a day, then they slide back down.

Now, two of them are on the first page at the bottom.

I used article marketing, video marketing, some backlinks...but I must be missing something; because my sites look better than the top ranked sites on that page... and they have video.

So if any of you Warriors feel like giving back on how to accomplish this....
and please don't reply if you don't have your sites ranked number one on google....

but I want to know from true professionals what else I can do.

Also, I am thinking of getting Bookmarking Demon and an RSS feed submitter in the next month or two....

but if there is anything else that I am missing please let me know.

    Whyspend so much time and money on a property you do not own? I understand using Squidoo because of its authority status, but what if your lense gets deleted?

    Thanks for the heads up. I realize this... however... I want to learn how to get this to stick on the top spot before I make my own website which will cost me 10 bucks a month... and much more time to rank at the top. Thanks.

    Start looking at the sites ahead of you.
    How old are they?
    How many backlinks do they have?
    If there are pages ranked like mysite.com/category/keyword, see how many backlinks that page has, not just the domain.
    What are the PR's of those sites ahead of you?
    Do they have keywords in the title, description, and URL? Do you?
    Can you get backlinks from the sites they have backlinks on?

    I would try out Market Samurai with their free trial and use their SEO competition module to give you the answers to most of those questions.

    Answer those questions and put a strategy together to out SEO them, and better timize your site. Which by the way:

    Do you have proper onsite SEO?
    Title tags?
    H1 tags?
    Strong tags?
    Proper keyword density?
    LSI?
    Are you using anchor text on your bcklinks?

    Yes...by the way I do have market samurai. The sites above me are pr 4 - 6... tons of incoming links (or thousands... whatever).....
    I am going to beat out these websites for the top spot with my videos and relevance... these other sites are yesterdays news.... so I want to find the newest ways to squeeze my lens to the top. And I need your advice and know how!
