OK, so all you need is traffic to make money?

Well, sort of. We all know that you need targeted traffic to make money.

So how exactly do you get free targeted traffic?

Answer: Search Engines



Essential Number 1:
KEYWORDS
Keywords attract search engines. This means focusing on the right keywords for your niche and ensuring the keywords are in the name of your pages.


Essential Number 2:
CONTENT
Content attracts search engines. Add content and keep adding it. Don't like adding content? Then get someone else to do it for you.


Essential Number 3:
BACKLINKS
Back links improve your page rank. Spend time to get good back links and your page rank will move higher in the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages).


If you can concentrate on these things, then your FREE website traffic will increase.

    You say to make sure keywords are in the names of your pages. Do you mean the file name (ie - keyword.php) and/or the title (ie - title tag in header: "Keyword Page")?

    Also, let's say I want my site to come up for these searches, and I prefer to focus on them in this order (meaning, I'd rather do better for the first than the last in the SERPS):
    - natural dog food
    - premium dog food
    - premium natural dog food
    - dog food

    Ok, so those would be searches I want to rank high on. How would I structure my keyword list in my page? Do I use each word individually with commas, do I use each phrase with commas...?

    - "natural dog food, premium dog food, premium natural dog food, dog food"
    - "natural, premium, dog, food"

    ??

    Thanks to all for discussing! I find many people do not think this much into it and do not really understand which is the best way to do it...or if it even matters. I have not found any good answers or discussion on it.

    However for backlinks there are 3 important factors as to what makes a backlink good or bad:

    1. PR of the backlink
    2. IP diversity between backlinks
    3. anchored text
