I just started using Plimus several days ago, and have to admit it is pretty amazing, the fact you can customise your own buynow templates so it is themed exactly like that off your own website/sales page is a major benefit.

I am wondering though, are there any downfalls to Plimus apart from the monthly payouts?

I would like to know you're experiences with Plimus...

Thanks

The downside of Plimus is that they will call some of your customers to verify that the purchase is real and stuff like that.

I don't know if they only do this for new accounts or if it doesn't matter

      Why is this a downside?

Because I've seen plenty of complaints on the internet, where the customer started sending emails to the vendor all pissed off and angry because of the call.

I have used plimus pretty extensively, have several products with them, and I'm happy with them.

They do offer probably the largest variety of payment methods, they even accept money order and wire transfers as a payment from the customers.

The downside is that they don't give you the same exposure to affiliates as Clickbank does, so if you don't have an affiliate base you might find it hard to get affiliates.

So then whats the deal with the phone calls? Honestly thats the only thing that stopped me from using them. The first time I decided to use them I came across like 3-4 blogs and a couple of forum threads with vendors complaining that they have lost customers because they keep calling everyone lol

Well, Plimus decides to call some customers, I assume they do this because that they find the particular customer suspicious. They call only a small portion of them. Basically they give them a call to verify that they made the purchase. It's not such a big deal, I personally pretty happy with Plimus.

The one major drawback to using Plimus is that it is more expensive to use than Clickbank at almost 10% commission.

I use Plimus. This site is pretty fishy. I didn't get credit for some sales after invoices are created. I reported to Plimus and they can't give me any explanation. The drawback is the vendors are able to control the commission rate at any time. I once got many sales from one product, then the vendor decided to lower the commission rate from 75% to 10%. Why waste much time with Plimus since their vendors are not very honest.

Marian, you are probably seeing the vocal minority. Sellers/affiliates without problems don't look for places to post that they have no problems.

Likewise, there's a huge tendency to amplify a complaint or two into 'a whole bunch' or that they "keep calling everyone." Look at the number of rants on this forum that start with one jackass doing something irritating or crass, and the victim projecting it onto a whole group...

Plimus is focussed on the software market if you are selling something other than software their system may not be suited to your needs.

I've looked into Plimus in the past. Apparently they do call a lot of customers, and this also turned me off them a bit. I suggest reading the Plimus forum for more info and reviews.

They do Call customers, and it may be annoying but there are some customers who are surprised at human interaction in their transactions and like it.

I like the fact that they aer available 24/7 with a human telephone helpdesk with an american on the line.

I've not used Plimus. RegSoft are good but their site hasn't been updated for years. RegNow are OK but I've been plagued with customers having order form problems and their Google Analytics support sucks, so they're effectively useless for me now.

I'm trying out Avangate which looks extremely impressive.

If I was starting out now I think I would just use e-junkie. If you add up all the 7% commission I've had to pay out to Digital River over the years it's frightening.

Hmm I'm also considering using plimus for my blog. However I don't like their buy now pages. Buyers also need to put in their adress, zipcode and phone number... I can't delete these fields somehow, why are they required?

@brettb does avangate support (paypal) recurring payments?

    Thanks,

How come you don't like the buy now pages, check this one out for example:

      https://www.plimus.com/jsp/buynow.js...ractId=2851102

That's a customised buy now page, it looks great!

I think they need address details because of paying with credit cards...
