First Name Personalization in Emails

Hey Guys,

I have noticed that a lot of Optin forms
are starting to ask for Just email instead
of First name and Email

So of course the emails being sent will no longer
to be able to personalize with the person's name

1 - Have you fond that having just Email increases
the Optin Rate?

2 - What about the OPEN rate on emails that are
not personalized?

Asking for the e-mail only increases visitor-to-subscriber
    opt-in rates.

Yes - a lot Internet Marketers are now asking for e-mail
only on the opt-in forms now - partly because it increases
the number of opt-ins on the front-end.

With regards to e-mail open rates, they are primarily
determined by the subject line and the reputation of the
sender of the e-mail address rather than via personalization.

Interestingly, one of the top direct marketing organizations,
Agora, only ask for the e-mail address on their opt-in forms
and they don't personalize their e-mails:

They test and track a lot and their methods are based on
huge numbers too (for their offer to their target market
    of course).

    Your mileage may vary.

Test it for yourself to get the definitive answer for your
    offer to your list.

    Dedicated to your success,

Ive found that although my opt-in rate dropped a bit when i started asking for names,
the open rate of my emails where quite a bit higher when i used their name in the title.
My results might not be typical though, so it would be a good idea to test it out.

I have noticed that the Majority of emails I get
DO NOT use my first name in the Subject

A few years ago it seems like they ALL used the
      First name

    It's a really tough one.

We have found that always, irrelevant of the market, the opt
in rate increases in direct relation to the no of fields requested,
and especially you see a direct correlation between name +
    email and e-mail only.

However, we also see 2.5%-4% increase in open rates when
the name is within the subject line.

We also see a higher CTR within e-mails when the name is
used intelligently within the text in a format that feels
    natural.

I think in the IM niche, I would entirely abandon requiring
the name, everybody in that niche, even beginners are
to savvy, it serves no purpose.

As always, don't think IM as some kind of useful baromoter,
we will have people daily in one of our fitness niches, e-mailing
us with comments like "thank you so much for getting back to
    me personally."

Always remember there's a huge world out there of people
    who arn't web savvy.

All boils down to pretty much the only tried and true maxim
    in online marketing.

    TEST.
