Hmm... the tasty of defeat

I'm curious... you hear it time and time again...

Some of the best writers in the biz say...

A sales letter is nothing more than "salesmanship in print."

And many can't afford to hire the Big Gunz. So you gotta do it yourself.

Is there ANYONE here ,who's had a door-to-door sales position...

Who's learning experience DIDN'T equip them with new beliefs about sales?

My "favorite" thing, was being a victim of that % who were
totally not interested in your product, but who said "yes" to
a sales call over the phone, after the company telemarketer
pressured them into it.

Result: you drive 1 hour, you knock on the door, the blue
Cadillac that drove past you on your way there was the
husband (RUNNIN!), and the wife slams the door in your face
after cursing you for showing up in the first place.

Rejection 101: It's good for the determined soul, is it not?

There are still some great products that sells well with not that good sales letter. Remember, it's your product that will still sell, and not the words. If you have a great product with a good sales letter as well, that's a good combination, but you still need to market it to the right people.

So, having a good sales letter only adds help, but again, it's still your product and marketing efforts that will give you sales.

PS - What do you sell over the phone?

The problem with what you are saying is that it's a "just good enough" mentality. A mediocre sales letter may sell some product, but why settle for that?

Also, I am sorry to tell you this but if you have a good product and a crappy sales letter, your product most likely WON'T sell because people read the sales letter first before they even get to see or try the product. IT IS THE WORDS THAT SELL THE PRODUCT. So having a good sales letter is very important.

Cool to notice how far you've gone in your biz in a short period of time.

    I agree with you mostly.

Other than about a good product.

But yeah, you need a good offer and I think that's what you meant.

Sales letters are hugely important if you're constantly after new blood. They matter less and less as you move more and more into repeat buyers and your list grows. Then it becomes mostly about you and the quality of your past products.

There is not and can never be a better selling point than how you are perceived and the consistency of your past products.

There is a great book called "The Science of Influence". It explains everything you need to write the glowing sales letter or become a better sales man.
