Site/Domain Flippers - question for you

I own like 70 domains, and have only about 10 up (as they are my main business). After doing some re-evaluation of my business strategies, I realize I just have NO time to get to what I had purposed for a group of these sites, so I'd like to sell about 30 of them off.

They are mostly just the domain name, although 2 have members (10,000+ and 500+, but the sites are mainly inactive/old), but ALL of them get traffic. (The sites are hosted, just don't have much if any content). Yeah, I know, a waste.

Anyway, after paying the renewals on some of these for as long as ten years, it's time to either develop or sell them.

I thought about using Flippa, but for $19 per listing, I don't want to list them all in a "lump", but at the same time, I don't want to list them all individually either.

Any suggestions?

Is there a better place to sell them off at other than flippa, i.e., where I could just list them all and let people make offers on each one?

I know most I'll probably only get $20 from, so I'll be in a loss on some that are old, but some are pretty good names - and obviously if I'm selling sites that get traffic AND have members, I definitely want more than $20 LOL.

You can list them on the biggest domain marketplace sedo.com or sedo.co.uk,park all of them with their free parking domain name service and probably list any of the them as a featured domain or as a category lisiting domain for exposure. You might get some traffic where you'll either be paid for any traffic hit you get on your parking domain name space or for any offer and subsequent sale made.

You could also use buydomains.com to park some of them probably share them among the 2 domain sites. If you have the time, look for websites that have similar names to the domain names that you want to sell, send them a friendly email asking them if they might be interested to buy or find websites that offer services which your proposed domain name could be put to use which they could use as a redirect.

Try some of these, its probably a step towards the right direction, i think more ideas would come from there.

If you start listing them for $19 on flippa then you may pay to list and relist a few times to sell it and if its not worth more than $20 or so you lose. I would list them in batches. If you have 70 domains then maybe sell them off in groups of 10 at a time. I think you will have better luck on flippa selling them in related groups. You can also try sedo as mentioned.

Hi Mike - thanks, I was thinking that maybe groups would work, but wasn't sure.

Thanks everyone - I"ll take a look at the others.

        • In addition to the great tips you've been given so far, I would also add these...

Consider GoDaddy's domain auctions. It's cheap to list domains there and I know that marketplace gets a lot of traffic.

Consider selling the domains on eBay. It's a long shot, but you might have some success.

Whether you sell on eBay or Flippa, as Mike suggested, consider selling them in groups.

Find out what keywords these domains rank for (i.e. in the top ten) then do a search for these keywords and see if there are any ads shown. The more ads the better but even if there is only one ad, click the ad and visit the site. If it's not a corporation (i.e. Amazon.com, etc.), contact the webmaster and tell them you have a "cheap" domain for sale that ranks for the keywords they are PAYING to be listed for. I would also contact the webmasters of the sites that rank naturally in the top ten for those keywords.

List your most valuable site for sale on Flippa. In the Flippa auction description itself, create a prominent section that says you are in the process of selling off your entire portfolio of domains and sites. Then provide a link to a page where you can capture their name and email address. Your hook will be, "Join my private buyer's list to be notified the minute these domains and sites are listed for sale!" If your most valuable site is any good, you should be able to draw enough eyeballs to your auction and ultimately to your list Then you can offer the rest of your portfolio for sale directly to your list of buyers!

Broadcast your domains and sites for sale via my newsletter. This isn't meant to be shameless plug either. I have a decent size list of buyers and I allow my newsletter subscribers to broadcast their stuff for sale for free. Who knows, you might find some takers from my list. You can sign up to my newsletter for free by clicking on my signature.

Finally, I would consider listing your lesser-valued domains and sites on Digital Point. It's free to do and that marketplace gets good traffic too.

          Good luck!!
