Dupplicate Content Question

I'm just curious about this. Say I'm doing affiliate marketing and I'm writing up a new page for a product I've decided to promote. If the original page for the product contains something like a list of features, can I copy and paste that list of features without it being duplicate content or would I have to reword the list?

Ok....let's put it this way. How would you feel if you put time and effort into creating a product, writing the copy for the sales page and maybe even hired a copy writer to punch up the sales page and some affiliate marketer copy and pasted your page or a portion of your page?

Sure, you are driving traffic to their page but still it is copy and paste. Why not copy and paste the whole sales page?

It is not a duplicate content issue it is a copyright infringement issue or something very close to that. If nothing else it's kind of cheezy in my book.

Why not expound on the benefits in your own words? You could probably take 1 or 2 of the benefits and roll them into an article and find better success to boot.

If you put it in a different directory you won't get that duplicate content. Check it out, Put in digital cameras, you will see tons of the same ad. I think yuou will be O.K.
        Thanks

You make a very good point. The only thing I would copy/paste would be a list of features, otherwise I would write the entire rest of the sales page myself and target it towards a specific audience. However I do see what you are saying. Thank you.

No problem and good luck in your affiliate adventures!

Just keep in mind that it is a slippery slope if you were to start copying people's work. You might think that it's ok to copy just the list of benefits or what's included with the product word for word to save time and make things easier on you.

Affiliate marketing may be simple but it's not easy...

Thanks a lot bretski. I'll definitely keep that in mind and try to rewrite the features lists when I add them
