I'm a newbie in blogging/SEO, and I've just created my first post. It's a one day old blog. I searched for my blog on Google (domain name--> XXX.com), but I couldn't find it. Is this normal for newly created blogs?

It can take Google about a week or more to index sites. It will get indexed if you get backlinks to it. Sometimes Google will index a site, and then it will leave the index. A few days later, it will pop up and be indexed again. It's just how the googlebot works. Focus on creating content that is valuable, and do it often. Promote the content by posting in niche forums with a signature backlink, blog commenting, and submitting articles to directories.

      Thanks John!

The first thing I did was to customize the appearance of my blog. It's actually a music blog, I spent a lot of time in looking for media plug-ins, themes to make my blog looks prettier

If you would like to get indexed faster you can submit your RSS feed to RSS FEED directories, as well as pinging your website. If you have wordpress and a sitemap plugin installed I believe it does this all automatically for you.

Also submit your sitemap to Webmaster tools if you haven't already done so, as this will helps. Social bookmarking your post, like Digg, Mixx, Propeller, etc are great ways to get the engines to take notice of your newly created posts/site.

Definitely normal, don't worry! You can certainly ping to speed up the indexing process, but the thing you need to remember is that SEO can be a long, tedious process. It takes time to move up in the rankings.

Congrats on starting a blog, though! Have you thought about how you're going to start promoting it?

Get your blog pinged on pingler.com, also search for RSS directories to submit your RSS, so it automatically reindexes when you make changes.

Also google crawls digg few times a day, and twitter is real time indexed . use it
