Aweber - delete unsubscribes or not?

I am just curious what you all do with the people who unsubscribe from your mailing list?

At first I would purge my list once a week, so it would stay nice and neat. But now I am keeping everyone so I can check my opt out %. I thought this was really going to help me, but unless I get detailed info on each and ever user, It is relatively worthless.

I am curious as to what you all do and the reasoning behind it.

If costs matter and you're close to the next tier up, delete them asap. Aweber charges you for the unsubs you do not delete. I found that one out the hard way awhile back.

There is no real need to keep them. I usually do a purge every few months.

As Zeus66 said, get rid of your unsubs. I would definately continue purging your list at least once a month due to Aweber charging for not just the amount of active subs you have, but also the inactive subs. Get rid of them so you do not have to learn like we had to!

Before they can unsubscribe with my mailing list, I have a program which can make them think twice before subscribing. If they click unsubscribe, a popup window will appear and ask why they will unsubscribe, after providing the reason. A suggestion will be given for them like decrease the rate of the email to weekly or monthly etc.

That strategy holds them back from unsubscribing. But if they still unsubscribe I do nothing with their emails.

Delete them as they are of no use to you. You can't email them in the future so let them go. It is life, not everyone will stay with you for ever.

Delete them. Aweber charges you for the unsubscribed emails even if you cannot send to these unsubscribed emails anymore.
