HELP! Understanding the Mechanics of a Good Squeeze Page Headline

I'm still facing challenges on how to come up with a good titles, whether it be for my articles, squeeze or landing pages.

Being that I'm still learning what makes up a good title, I've been vacillating between two extremes: too much hype or too boring and non-catchy.

That being said, I've been reading the advice that some of the successful marketers have to say about writing a good headline for a good squeeze page to see what helps. One in particular that stood out was to make a SPECIFIC and LIMITED offer (e.g. Lost 10 pounds in the Next 7 days, etc.)

Well, I have the template for my squeeze page and the special free report I offer is meant to help people overcome the mental obstacles that prevent them from having success with the Law of Attraction.

Here are some squeeze page headlines I've come up with:

1) How to Eliminate ALL Doubt and Attract Wealth and Happiness within MINUTES
2) Secret Techniques that Will Make You Wealthier and Happier within 24 Hours.
3) Discover How to Attract Wealth and Happiness RIGHT Now
4) Revealed: Secret Techniques that Will Make You Wealthy and Happy without Breaking a Sweat

I've been struggling with how to directly direct the problems I'm trying to address with my special report with my squeeze page headline. Please, I would GREATLY appreciate any advice and feedback about these headlines and how to make them better. How do I seamlessly connect the headline to the issue I'm trying to address without being too salesy or too clumsy and long-winded?

What makes a good headline for a squeeze page?
Also, what are the mechanics behind a good squeeze page headline?

Thank you very much,

Ike

What is the title of your special report? What specific problems does it help solve? Is there a way you can make it into a step by step system?

I'm still trying to come up with a good title:

      Here are two:
      1) Clean Your Mind : Secret Tips to Overcome the Mental Clutter That's Stopping You From Attracting Wealth and Happiness
      2) Mental Mastery: Secret Tips to Overcome the Mental Clutter that's Stopping Your from Attracting Wealth and Happiness

The specific problems the ebook helps to solve are:
      1) Overcoming those negative thought attacks
      2) How to stop doubt dead in its tracks
      3) How to overcome those paralyzing negative emotions
      4) How to take back your power
      5) How to KEEP that powerful feeling

I broke the book/report up into several chapter that deals separately with EACH problem.

In a nutshell, the aim of the book is to solve every mental problem that people complain about that keep them from having success with the Law of Attraction.

    Hi Ike,

I see you are working hard with the title. Believe me, it is the most critical element in your squeeze page, as most people read just that.

People are surfing the Internet like in the frog - they don't see anything, unless you address the problem, which they have. So, make the investigation, what people who are in your target market, really wants. What is the secret desire they want to fulfill?

For example, you mentioned mental obstacles - what are they? Be specific. Address the most important obstacle (ONE OF THEM), which people want to solve right now.

Law of Attraction - once again, it is too general and for two people it can be different things. Maybe people want to Double Friends, Get X number of leads for their business or something like that. It is very important to be specific.

I hope it helps a bit,

Try to make something like this "Stop .... .... ! Learn how to live .... .... with this special report before noon!"

I think any title would be fine when you address people problems and describe their joyful feeling after using your products. If you can create a title like that, that would work great

    Ike
    Hello Ike,

The advice you mentioned is valid, but keep in mind that is only one
approach to writing effective headlines. There are others, plus you
can combine multiple strategies within any single headline.

As for your four examples, above...

They're all unbelievable, at least to me and probably most people. Number
three can be misleading, but there are at least two interpretations. Someone
who thinks they'll be able to have wealth and happiness today (after reading
your report); or the more reasonable is find out how you can do that today.

The latter implying it's just getting the information today, the results will
    happen later.

Numbers one, two, and four are beyond believability, in my opinion.

That's what can happen when you try to follow what amounts to something
like a formula. I'm sure you can make that headline advice work, but you'll
need to do it with other benefits and realistic expectations.

Also, the issue of secrets. I doubt there are any secrets about that subject.
But if someone doesn't know something on a subject, is that unknown information
still a secret? I don't think it is.

You may hook people with the use of 'secret,' but I think you'll turn off more people
by using it. But of course you can always test with/without 'secret.'

      Ken
Ken, I greatly appreciate your feedback.

Yea, I guess I kinda figured that they'd be unbelievable. That's been my challenge: finding a middle ground between boring and unbelievable. How do you do this? What are the mechanics behind that?

Also, I thought the word "secret" had an exclusivity implication that would make people want to know more and have a "one up" over others, since people, in general, like to feel as if they know something the next man doesn't.

Well, back to the drawing board.

One thing you may want to do is SPLIT TEST THE HEADLINES.

    1) If you are using aweber, this is easy to do. Then instead of guessing, simply throw in say 2-4 of your best headlines. You will need at least a good 500 visitors/exposures (in total, so say 125 impressions per headline) to get accurate data.

    2) The benefit here is that once you see which headline is doing better, you can get a sense of what your audience is really interested in.

3)In general, it's best to focus on results (first) then benefits (second) when it comes to headlines. Results that 99% of people are looking for:

    - To be more attractive
    - To be smarter
    - To be healthier
    - To be wealthier/richer
    - To be more productive
    - To feel safer and more secure
    - To solve a problem

    5) Next, things like adding a)a time frame and b) numbers/steps also can help.

In general people want to know:
how they can get *a specific result* in x time frame using y number of easy to follow, simple steps.

Also you want to focus on specifics, you are talking about "wealth and happiness" which is a bit nebulous - how much more wealthy, in exact terms? how much happier?

-5 Undercover Methods to Attract More Wealth in 90 Days or Less
    - Proven 7 Step Process to Achieve More Happiness in 30 Days or Less
-Give Me 5 Minutes And I'll Show You 5 Proven Ways to Attract More Wealth
    in 60-90 Days....Guaranteed

-10 Undercover Law of Attraction Techniques to Attract $3-5k/mo More Wealth in 90
    Days or Less

(notice here I pick a time frame and income level that seems "reasonable" to the average person..)

    etc, etc
    Hope this helps....

Wow man, thanks for this! Priceless. I'll take into consideration what I've been told so far and brainstorm some more headlines.
