Any pitfalls in submitting to Ezine?

Hello,

I've got a fairly new site with unique content that I would like to increase traffic to. My question is, is there any downside to submitting my articles to ezine that are already indexed?

I honestly believe that my traffic will increase organically as I add more and more content. So I do not want to boost traffic at the loss of something else.

Please let me know if there's any reason NOT to submit to ezine articles!

Thanks,
Casey

    Hey Casey,

Are you talking about submitting the articles from your website that are already indexed?

If so, I personally would not do this. While there is no duplicate content penalty (this has been debunked many times), it is my opinion that links coming in to your site from 'unique content' carry more weight.

If it were me I would spend a little time rewriting say 30% of the article content and changing the article titles before submitting to EZA. But that's just me.

Yeah it's a good idea to rewrite the articles before you submit to EzineArticles.com.

Also, consider submitting to other article directories as well - just one is limiting.

I would target the same keywords and just re-write the articles completely and submit that to EZ. It only takes 15-20 minutes to write an article depending on how fast you can type and 10-12 minutes if you know the topic completely and can touch type.

    Best of Luck!

Ok, thanks for the info! I'll try to rewrite the articles rather than submit them directly.

Can you tell me what the advantage is by rewriting?

      Don't target the same keyword.

If your site is new, EzineArticles will outrank you for the keyword, especially if your article gets on the 'most viewed' list or otherwise gains some pagerank.

Definitely submit your articles to your own site first. Wait for the article to be indexed by Google before you even consider submitting the article to Ezinearticles. If it is your best keyword, don't even submit it to Ezinearticles until your site is ranking on page one of Google for the keyword. I have made this mistake several times, and it is true that your article on Ezinearticles will outrank your article on your site if they are targeting the same keyword.

It is not first to press that dictates who ranks highest in google for a particular article... Rather it is the site that has the most google juice, and it is hard to beat EZA for google juice...

    Kevin,

Thank you very much for that info. I don't want an ezine article to outrank me on my key words, as many of them are very niche. I'll probably wait a while and let my site grow before submitting any articles to ezine.

    Thanks,
    Casey

If they are very niche then there is a good chance that your own site will rank well for them, so post them their first. EZA will not slap you for using content that you and ypu alone own outright!
