Domain Name Advice Please

Hi

I have 2 domain names to choose from and don't know which one to go for.

One is a .com and the other is a .net

I know .com is the best but the one available is with dashes and the.net is not.

Example below:

exampledomain.net

example-domain.com

Which one should I opt for?

Kind regards

Colin

Difficult one. I would register both and start with the .net unless a significant part of your business is likely to be word of mouth when I would always go with a .com but preferably without hyphens.

Go with the .net first if you only have the money to buy one domain. I have a domain with a lot of dashes I bought long ago when I didn't know any better, and I have had a tough time getting the domain name to rank in the search engines.

I agree to avoid using hyphens. Before you go for the .net domain, it may be worth thinking about adding an additional word to your domain name to get a .com, otherwise if you go for the .net version you may find people going to the .com version that already exists by mistake. I've also been told .com is the best choice for domain names for SEO.
