GetResponse Question/Issue

Warriors,

I've decided to finally try my hand at building up a list and have decided to go with GetResponse. Currently, I'm just getting my feet wet with the free option.

The problem is that the one thing I have bothered with so far is giving me trouble - the web form creation (form for visitors to subscribe).

I decided to try and join my own list with a personal e-mail address and upon submission, I'm taken to a default confirmation page that requires you to join some of their listed newsletters.

That's one problem and the other is that there is a warning displayed to avoid using free e-mail accounts from hotmail, yahoo, etc.

Is there any way to get rid of these two pests?

I'm assuming that I would have to create my own confirmation page, but when I went back to edit the webform there is no option to do so. Plus, I'd like to avoid that route for now if possible, since I only really use wordpress.

Anything else to know on top of that?

Thanks!

-Mike

    Mike,

When you're on the web form creation page, click "Advanced Options". This takes you to a page where you can put in your own confirmation URL.

I always uncheck the "Powered By GetResponse logo" option as well, while I'm there.

I experienced this same issue and found that these two "pests" can only be made to go away with a paid account. The ability to switch them off is disabled for free accounts.

Yeah, that might be the case with the free option. I was referring to the standard (paid) service.

I contacted GetResponse's customer service about this issue and I sure got response. Here it is:

Please be advised that Free GetResponse accounts
are for test purposes and because of this they are
limited for customization. This is why you will not be
able to customize your confirmation pages.

Once you upgrade you will be able to do that. Please

be advised that if you wish to upgrade your account
you can do it any time.

Great strategy. Provide crappy service and remind your customers to pay you if they want acceptable service.

So, you want the same level of service for free that the paying customers get?

Feature-limited trials aren't anything new or objectionable. In the case of something like GR, I suspect they're primarily of value to people with limited experience with list operation, so they can learn the basics without signing up for an account.

That doesn't seem especially "crappy" to me.

        Agreed.

If you are in a tight spot financially, give Imnica Mail a try, the owner is a WF member and i think he is still running a special for WF members.
It's only like $9.95, just do a search.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

No, but I do like to work with businesses that are honest. If they said right away that my customers will be required to sign up for their list I would have no problems.

But from reading other posts it is clear to me that GetResponse (the paid version) is an awesome service. I just hope they will resolve this issue soon. Meanwhile I will continue using MailChimp which hasn't tried to be tricky with me (the only problem of course is that they don't accept affiliate links which is why I decided to try GetResponse).
