Why Does Google Hate You So Much?

This article seems to think that Google won't let your site rank well organically because they want to force you to by ads.

Seems like a sour grapes attitude to me.

I don't agree with that, if I was just forced to choose between a bunch of adverts I would leave and never look back, just like the majority of other users.

By having it so there are maybe organic searches and paid results you get the best of both worlds, people who are advertising millions are not going to be wasteful and they are going to make sure what they are offering is going to be as near as they can get to what you want.

Nowadays you cannot reach millions of viewers on a budget of £100,000 in the middle of an episode of Corrie, you have to pay for each and every one so you had better make damn sure you get it right since for the most part if people navigate away you have lost the sale to another company and still paid for it.

If a famous beans company advertises their beans in the middle of Corrie though chances are that people will remember the brand name, what hope do they have on the internet with millions of competitors?

I see a lot of high ranking sites that do not use ads or banners to promote themselves.

    Do you see wikipedia advertising?
How often do you see yahoo, msn, cnn, foxnews advertising?
What about facebook? Do you see facebook buying google ads?

There are a lot of factors that help determine where a site ranks - buying google ads is not one of them.

I think the article is poorly written, weakly argued and factually inaccurate.

    Other than that, it's fine.

I think that its not true. The only asset that google has is attention. And they get pissed off when any SEO/PPC site misleads their people.

If you make the Google Gods happy by making sure that you're giving quality content to the user, they really don't care.

Although I have conclusive evidence that
one paid ad is worth more than 4 spots in
the top 10 of Google organic results, this
article is crap without needing to read it.

(yes, in part I'm saying "Why waste your
time with 'free' traffic - do you have any
idea how much money you're losing?"

Somebody has to occupy those organic
    placements, don't they?

Do we just have filler, ghost site, place
holders to prop up paid ads?

(people are willing to pay for ads for a
reason and it's NOT just because we
    suck at SEO)

And if Wikipedia or Youtube or Facebook
or whatever becomes the definitive source
for information (ie, always occupy the
top spots on Google) then why do I
need to waste my time going to Google?
I'll just go directly to Wikipedia and search.

If anything, if this guy is in touch with
the realities of 2010, it's harder to have
an ad running on Google than it is to get
organic placement - or I should say, it
    requires a superior website (according
to the Google definition of what a
    superior website is).

No, this article is about as valuable as
most of the articles on EzineArticles.com -
I still don't understand how BAD an
article has to be to get rejected there.

      Hi,

He has a point here -

Note: Someone once said to me something that is very true that made me sour on the search business even more. He said, "You know why you dislike search Jim? It's because you play by the rules."
