Network Of Sites Or Just 1

I've had mixed views of this topic, but what do you guys think is better, a network of sites ranking, or just 1 website or blog that you focus on?

After burning myself out on trying to maintain a network of sites, I have to believe that one successful site has to be better. Look at my signature afterall, I am trying to dump all I have now just to give myself a break.

It all depends on your situation. There are people with several sites that are doing well. I personally think that focussing on one site and develop it before going to another one is just the easiest way to go. It really takes time and efforts to develop a site.

Alexa said it perfectly. If you do like me, trying to become a mega-force in IM, you will simply burn out before you get where you want to be. One site could be too risky. A small number of sites, perhaps 4-8 sites would be ideal AND manageable.

I am trying the middle ground. I was looking at having about 100 mini sites with the intention of making a few bucks each day off each one. So far experience has taught me to continue to tweak my two existing sites. Both of them are over 80 pages.

Lately my first site is experiencing 5 to 6 dollar adsense days on a regular basis. I can easily see them turning into ten dollar days. So if I had ten such sites my affiliate sales and adsense would be a tidy sum.

By the way, my goals are not too lofty. I am here to make enough each month so I can bank most of my day job salary and then actually make more in retirement than when working. So if you are looking to become a 10K a month guru my plan probably wont appeal to you,

unless of course one would outsource, I know some folks here do that, hmmmm:rolleyes:

      Here's my experience:

Keyword research is quite time consuming, I think it's smarter to focus on one site until it is where you want it to be. A small network of sites doesn't hurt.
